It isn't made out of wood, more of a plasticky material. Holds the reeds in securely, and has 2 ventilation holes to prevent mold. The magnetic closure is very strong, and even if I drop it, the case never opens and the reeds stay secure. I would totally recommend this case!

My daughter likes her reed case. It works well for her but doesn’t fit in her current bassoon case.

This was a gift for my son. I gave it to him, during a performance while he was with 2 other bassoonists. One was jealous and the other had one identical and said they loved theirs. Honestly, all I see is pretty wood. LOLHis review:He really likes the magnetic closure and how well it fits in his Fox bassoon bag.

We are looking for a large case without having to spend too much. Not sure what the material is, if it is wood, it is some kind of really light wood. It has a good finish, and the inside looks great. Hope it will last.

This case looks beautiful, but its “red wood†description is not accurate. The case is made of a cheap plastic and is painted to look like wood. Would not recommend if you want a solid wood case.

This reed case looks much better than expected. Nice holes on each end help with air circulation and a magnetic closure keeps the case closed.

It's an a-ok reed case, but some days, the scraping of wood on velvety material is like nails on a chalk board to me.
