I have been changing my own brakes for years and always would use a C clamp and the old pad or turn the bleeder and then squeeze the piston back in, and I was going to do that for this job but my newer truck has duel pistons and didn't want to damage them by going full back yard macanic on them. After doing a little research I found this item. It wasn't the cheapest, by a few bucks, but the added value in the magnetic tool and the positive reviews made me choose this. And I am glad I did! When I first got it I tried it in my palm by squeezing the plates and ratchet the thing. It worked. So now for the install. I used it on a chevy Suburban and it had plenty of room to fit in the caliper with the pistons being fully extended, the brakes where almost shot, and low and behold it pushed those pistons back in like butter. The extendable plates worked perfect for a double piston and I can see the single working perfect for a single piston. I truly feel that this is one of the best tools for 25 bucks I have ever gotten. I feel like a jackass for not having it years before, all the headaches from c clamps and the calipers not being flat sometimes, all times, it is hard to get the flat end to stay put while you turn the handle. With this tool problem solved.

If you change your own brakes this is well worth the money

Worked as advertised. Saved lots of money changing my own brake pads.

I've used it twice and it has worked with great results and is easy to use. Defiantly better than using a C clamp.

Used today on 4 wheels. Worked perfectly. Out of the box, I did apply 2 drops of 3-in-1 to the threads as a habit with such devices. With the brake reservoir cap loosened to allow pressure release, only finger-tip pressure was required to compress the piston using this device. Turned gently to allow fluid to flow back. I am supremely delighted with how this works, I wish I had bought this years ago. I can't imagine how many brake jobs would be required to wear this thing out under normal use. Well worth the money.

The little brake spreader works great, but falls apart constantly, which is easily put back together, but does become annoying over time. Once you get the hang of it, it easily spread the calipers back in so that you can put the new brakes back on. It worked great when it did work.

Great, simple and inexpensive tool that makes compressing the piston very easy. I find this much more convenient and easier to fit in than a C-clamp.
