I am very surprised at how nice this item is. I'm impressed! Even if it was the compass, alone, to me that'd be well worth the price of around $15! I like brass for its anti-viral, anti-microbial properties, since copper is one of the metals in brass. Zinc is the other metal, and mixed together they create such a gold-ish type of color.I just got it tonight, so I have not tested the sun dial yet. I will do that tomorrow. The compass was tested and works fine. Match the red-tipped arrow with the black stamped arrow under it and whichever direction you're facing, that is it!I pressed the button and the lid popped up nicely! Pretty neat little thing. :) It seems insignificant but with so many electronic devices today, even the small things as such make a big difference concerning physical interaction.The underside is polished nicely, so it can be used as a makeshift mirror if you needed one on the spot! I always look for multiple uses in the items I get, and this one is passing with flying colors so far! :)The case is nice looking as well, with what seems to be brass hardware on it. I put a magnet to them and it did not attract, so likely to be brass! The case has a hole near the bottom, I am guessing in order for the chain to go through and you clip that onto something else, maybe the belt loop on your pants? Very nice little touch there! I like the stitching and also the stamp on the flap of the case!I always spray things that I get with water + isopropyl alcohol solution, just to kill germs (never know who handled it before!) and spraying the case made the ink come off a bit on tissue I used to wipe, but that's no surprise. I remember dunking black leather boots in hot soapy water and they started to bleed as well. There is a way to stop leather from bleeding. I looked it up last month but I will look it up again and seal this case. :)I am extremely impressed by this item. Good job! :)DEFINITELY worthy of 5 stars! :)

It looks like a silly trinket but I think it could be a useful survival tool. It was hard to see the shadow from the little tab thingy ontop since the brass is so shiny. I just use the markings on the clock as a guide and look at my own shadow on the ground.

I like it although I though the compass would work.
