Update 2025 Feb: Okay I have raised the rating to 4stars because I do find the product useful. even though maybe not 100% accurate in humidity I can tell the difference in humidity between indoors and outdoors at a quick glance. It's been humid lately so it has definitely been useful. When high humidity I turn on the Dry mode on the AC and watch the humidity gradually reduce indoors preventing the sticky feeling and any mould growth that might happen.I was a bit harsh because initially the accuracy didn't seem great. but it's useful enough to fulfill it's purpose.Battery Life Update: it's exactly 5 months later now (17 Sept '24 - 18 Feb '25) since brand new alkaline batteries installed with the auto backlight feature enabled and smaller outdoor unit connected, and it is showing the Battery icon today. it is still going though so I think it will last maybe 2 more weeks. The icon seems to have been triggered because I pushed the top for the bright LED illumination. I also pressed it a few times when I thought the autobacklight wasn't working in the evening (my user error, I put a light right behind the unit where the sensor is). If I hadn't pressed the bright illumination button I think the battery will last 6 months total with auto backlight and outdoor unit connected. outdoor unit battery still seems to be fine, since it is much smaller with a tiny screen. The battery life is what I was expecting and good enough for me. if you want the battery to last maybe disable the auto backlight and you will get 12 to 18 months, I won't be testing that I find it handy to have the dim auto backlight in the evenings. So 4/5 stars is fair.Original review below:Firstly batteries aren't included in the box. 2x AA and 2x AAA alkaline batteries will be required to put inside.Overall design function and fit and finish is what I expected from Braun. Thoughtful design and function it was easy to set the time and turn off the alarm as I wanted after confirming from the user manual with tiny text which is common these days. I went with the white version since I read the black negative version is difficult to read overall.I put batteries in the main unit first, then put batteries in the external sensor about 10 seconds later and they automatically paired together without any further steps. Outdoor sensor has a range of 30m but I have it about 3m away right outside the front door.I have the white model and the time and temperature is easily readable during the day with ambient light. when it becomes night though as expected it was not readable, so I switched on the auto backlight feature which seems to turn on according to evening time.the auto backlight is about 1/3 the brightness compared to when you press the top snooze button to illuminate at full brightness. it is very clear when you press the button but also can be a bit bright when in total darkness.I think the 1/3 auto backlight is a good balance for readability but also not searing your sleepy eyes at night with led light. in darkness clock is definitely easily readable to me, but the smaller temp/humidity numbers do take some squinting and an extra 2, 3 seconds to read.the auto backlight brightness will be ideal for those who plan to use it also as a bedside alarm clock since you can wake up in bed and glance at the clock half asleep without it being too bright.although for alarm clock use I probably would recommend Braun's alarm clock model which looks like it's placed upside down with that long leg stand design that looks like an upsidedown tick from the side. it will be much harder to accidentally flip over, compared to the weather station which has a short leg and might be knocked over as you try to press the snooze button while half asleep.but my initial -2 star comes from the initial accuracy of the temp and humidity. maybe it needs to calibrate for longer but compared to my $20 Switchbot temp/humidity sensors that I placed in the same place for a few hours they were quite a bit off. the Switchbot uses an accurate Swiss sensor and I have about 5 of them and they are all consistent.Update after 1 week: the Braun is now consistent with the Switchbot temperature indoors which is good, but indoor humidity still 4%~6% lower when I check. the outdoor Braun sensor is actually matching the indoor humidity of the Switchbot which I noticed it was doing from the beginning.I should give it more time but I hope Braun put high quality sensor's inside like the Switchbot has. at least for the close to $100 price paid I would expect the Braun to have good sensors. the main unit of the Braun is a little larger and has a clock but with the big price difference they should have at least equivalent sensors to the $20 Switchbot sensor (but switchbot does not have a clock or backlight).I also noticed in the user manual the small Outdoor Braun sensor does have a barometer inside as well, which when combined with baro+temp+humidity apparently transmits as the "in 12 to 24 hours time weather" icon on the clock. User manual itself says it isn't 100% accurate to tell the weather but I will see how it performs. I wasn't going to take the weather icon seriously anyway I mainly got the unit for the Clock and indoor vs outdoors temp+humidity.Humidity sensor seems to be a bit inaccurate. Also I know I wrote above I didn't plan on taking the weather icon seriously (baro+temp+humidity) but today it was a sunny dry day 29 degrees, and for some reason the weather icon shows "rain" at midday. no clouds incoming and warm and dry all day. user manual says it should predict weather 12 to 24 hours ahead and not "weather now" but I didn't expect any rain next day either, it has been very humid lately though.I will report back on battery life long term with auto backlight enabled. Will update probably 6 months to 1 year later.Update 4 months: since arriving and being set up battery still seems fine even with auto backlight enabled every day. No low battery indicator showing yet.I did notice just yesterday though that the auto backlight was off during the evening, even though I double checked and it was switched to on. Turns out there is a black light sensor circle on the back and I had purchased LED fairy lights recently and put them behind the Braun clock that then thought it was always too bright (daytime) to switch on the Auto backlight. I moved the clock a bit and put a tin box behind it to block the light and it works as expected now.
