I have an LG high efficiency window A/C. It has a washable filter over the evaporator coils and an electronic reminder to tell us when the filter should be cleaned. All well and good, EXCEPT that the filter is thin and cheaply made. It doesn't prevent a fairly rapid buildup of gunk on the internal evaporator coil, the fan, and the internal ductwork. Once all those components have a layer of dust and gunk all over them, the heat exchange suffers from the insular properties of the crud on the coils and the airflow is further reduced by the build-up on the fan. In short, the efficiency I paid extra for is lost until the unit is uninstalled, deep cleaned and put back in the window. What a pain!Breathe Naturally cut-to-fit filter material and some adhesive Velcro strips solved the problem almost completely. I put the Velcro "hook" half of the adhesive Velcro kit around the perimeter of the evaporator coil intake and some more around the two side and one bottom air intake vents molded into the case. (Search Amazon for adhesive velcro and you'll find what you need.) Then I installed Breathe Naturally filter material over all of these places - using the velcro to hold the Breathe Naturally material in place and make a good seal around the edges. The 1st set of Breathe Naturally filters over the intake vents pre-filter the air. The 2nd filter over the condenser coil inside the hinged front cover provide a secondary filtration stage. Lastly, the A/C's flimsy little factory filter - sitting between the cut-to-fit filter and the condenser - gets a third chance to stop particulates. In addition, the carbon in the Breathe Naturally filter material also does a great job of keeping the air coming out of the A/C smelling fresh and clean.I replace the Breathe Naturally materials about once every three months - and vacuum the surface dust off of them each time the "clean the built in filter" reminder light comes on. I also wash the factory filter at that time. I really love the performance and lack of odor and have yet to notice any visible buildup of crud on the A/C internals. Now I always have the high efficiency performance I paid extra for!All you need for this project is a measuring tape or ruler and a pair of scissors. A very easy and very effective DIY enhancement!

Using it for odor control for countertop compost bin. It works Perfectly. When the lid is closed there is no smell at all. Best $ I’ve spent.

My dog puked down the floor vent. I cleaned as far as I could reach but the smell lingered. I cut a piece of this filter to fit tightly under the vent and it really helped. I have a super sensitive nose and can still smell the odor a little when I am very close to the vent but it definitely reduces it quite a bit. The filter does NOT restrict the airflow. I would recommend.

Designed to scour air of odors. It is very effective as first and second stages of three stage system. Fits around barrel HEPA filter with included micro-hook fastener strips, without any trimming.

I've been using activated carbon filters for a few years now as a compliment to my AC return air filters. this filter, coupled with the fairly inexpensive filters available from the big box stores combine to make one of the most effective AC filters I've ever used. One really good feature of the activated çarbon filters is that they you can use a shop vac to clean them periodically, which extends the length of time they can be used. Placing one of these filters directly in front of your standard filter also extends the life of your standard filter.I replace the carbon filter (and regular filter) once every three months, which seems to be the ideal timing as it pertains to the carbon filter's effectiveness.

This brand is thick, opaque and doesn’t flake charcoal unlike the thin, transparent and fragile filter that came with my portable AC. The removal of odors is excellent and the quality should insure filtering NO2 and large particles pollution. The filter is easy to cut with a sharp box cutter or scissors. The material doesn’t pill when cut. It’s the correct 16†width and it is long enough for 6 pieces, making changing the filter economical. I like that it is made in MN. The resealable bag is great for storing.

We have a neighbour below us who has cats. The smell of cat litter comes up through a vent that lets out onto the landing of our stairs to the second floor. It's relatively subtle, but definitely there. I cut out a piece of this filter and fit it behind the grill of the vent. We now never notice the cat litter smell!

I bought the 24" x 24". They are about 2 mm thick (0.07" thick - not 0.2" as advertised). Not at all sufficient for what is needed. Flimsy. Super disappointed.

I liked the option to cut to the size I needed. I pulled out the filter unit from my microwave, opened the frame and added the new charcoal filter, then closed the frame again. Popped it back in the microwave and back in business in 10 mins. Better on the environment to replace just the filter instead of the entire tin frame and grate. It also costs half the price of a new framed filter!

I purchased this to use in fish filters. Can be cut to fit any size filter. Just wish it was a bit thicker

Easy to use. Catches grease before it enters the fan.
