About this item

  • Strong string - This thick string is made of high quality nylon, which is stronger than polypropylene twine. The braided design allows this marking rope to hold up through the harshest conditions!
  • Braided, not twisted - Braided nylon mason line is superior to nylon twisted cord because twisted nylon twine will unravel after being cut. Braided mason line won't fray or unravel when tying knots.
  • Easy to use - Ideal for use with string line level or for any commercial twine heavy duty outdoor projects. Use as plumb line, or with surveyors plumb bob with string, or with a masonry line holder.
  • Garden string - This white string is perfect for use in the garden. Use it as tomato twine string to tie up tomato plants, or for wick watering african violets, or general landscaping twine.
  • Bright colors - Each braided masonry line roll is fluorescent and easy to see. Perfect outdoor string for use as landscape twine, property line markers, construction twine, or marker string.

I needed this to be bright and easy to see, and also high quality enough not to sag over time after being tied tightly between two posts. It did the job great, much better than other string/twine I’ve used. Good value for the price, there’s a lot there.

The line worked well. Stretched a little more than I had hoped but well within my acceptable. The best I could do was a 3" sag in a 100' stretch. We got caught in a downpour and the line did get wet. A few hours later when I wound it back on the spool my hand and fingers were pink. I'll wear gloves next time.....

I was thrilled to find this "braided" string. It is very good quality. Everywhere that I went I could only find "twisted" string which is totally inferior. Twisted string unravels when you cut it. I would have to burn or tie knots at each end of the piece that I cut off. I'm an old guy so I was spoiled by having good braided string for many years. I feel bad that younger people don't even know that better string exists.

Last year I had used some 2mm 3 ply jute twine to trellis my tomatoes. The twine worked until late fall when all of my tomatoes were six to eight feet tall and two thirds of the twine snapped as they were the heaviest and full of tomatoes. I had quickly purchased some tomato tying twine to get them back on the trellis, but it was not braided and would come apart everywhere into individual strands. I ended up tying a knot in it every couple feet just for a piece of mind that it wouldn't come apart half way up the trellis. That twine felt and admittedly was cheap. So I looked around for some alternatives and landed on braided mason line this year. Mason line is more expensive than both of my other twines I spoke about but not expensive enough to be a deal breaker. In fact if I had just bought this in the first place it would of saved me money. I have not had any issues with it this year and do not expect to see any issues with it snapping. I expect it might last multiple seasons in all reality but the biggest question will be how it stands up to the full sun UV exposure.I don't mind the orange color of this particular line but there are other options for those who do. I will end up using some of this mason line for construction so in that aspect the color is a win.

Nothing was mentioned in the description of the string on line, before we purchased it, but on delivery there was a note on the label that a product used (presumably the dye?) has been found, in the USA, to cause cancer. We were not prepared to take the risk and Amazon gave us a full refund. Maybe, the product should be withdrawn from sale?

It is the perfect size for stringing tomato plants and works great with tomato clips. Seems expensive but I'm sure it will be fine for reusing in future gardening seasons. Very strong and tightly braided. It was mentioned in the comments that someone had to cut it because they couldn't find the tip of the string but if you look closely you will see where the tip is melted onto the side of the spool string. Just give that a little pull and it will come off, that way you don't have a randomly cut it.
