UPDATE: I have had one of these in each of my guitars for a year now, and still love them. I stopped wetting the sponge in the summer, but still use it as a soundhole cover to play quietly in my apartment. It's time now (end of October) to start soaking the sponges and humidifying again. I didn't mention in my original review that you MUST use DISTILLED WATER to soak the sponge. This should prevent mold and discoloration, but the sponges still have gotten a little discolored. So, I would love to buy replacement sponges but I don't know where to find them in the right size. I have looked for foam rubber cosmetic sponges but have not found them available in the right diameter. If anyone knows where to find replacements, please reply to this review.Original review:This is an excellent product. I'd like to clarify a couple of other reviews. One complained there were no English instructions, only Chinese, and another said, "The container doesn't open. You can soak the sponge, and make sure you wipe it off before covering the sound-hole." It's true, the instructions on the box are only in Chinese, but the operation is really quite simple. The container =DOES= open. On the side with the holes (the side that would face inside the guitar) there are clear markings (in English) saying . Simply lay the front of the unit in one hand, and with the palm of your other hand pressed over the back side, twist counter-clockwise and the back will unlock and open. You can then take the sponge out, soak it, put it back in and twist clockwise to lock the cover. Then place it into the sound hole, with the holes facing in, brand name facing out, securing the rubber gasket against the hole. One of those reviews also said, "Besides being a humidifier, if things are too humid, let the sponge dry out and drop the packet of desiccant, that comes with the kit in the guitar and cover the sound hole to lower the humidity." True, you can drop the packet of desiccant into the guitar and let it rattle around inside the body like a lost pick, but it is designed for you to open the cover (as I described above), remove the sponge completely, open the packet of desiccant and pour the loose crystals inside the container where the sponge would go. Close and lock the cover, and replace the unit into the sound hole. I just received this and have not been able to test the humidity levels in use, but from other reviews it seems to do a great job at that. I am very impressed with the design, the way it looks while in the sound hole, and the ability for it to keep all the moisture inside the guitar and not lose moisture into the air as with the kind that just sits in between the strings but doesn't block the hole. It is great for being able to keep the guitar out of its case, and to pick it up to play without taking the humidifier out. I will be getting these for 3 of my guitars, and I see there is a smaller diameter version for another guitar I have that this one doesn't fit. If it keeps the humidity to the proper level, I will never buy another style of humidifier for my guitars.

I've played acoustic guitars for nearly 60 years, tried about everything that's hit the market, and made some of my own, but these guys are pure genius. Very tight sound-hole fit, and the sponge holds a good amount of water. I re-wet once a week, and they still have a little moisture left. I use 4 of them on all solid acoustic guitars I leave on stands out of their cases in the Nebraska winter.. You can even play with them in place, you'll lose a bit of tone, of course, but I feel confident they are keeping my baby's healthy.

Easy to use, fits most guitars. I believe they have different sizes.I don't have low humidity issues. Except for January- February and these work well.

First off, you do NOT need to use distilled water in the sponge, all tap water does is add some discoloration to the sponge. It still works perfectly, this is the third one of these I've owned (multiple acoustic guitars.) If you genuinely need interactions printed in English, uh... this couldn't be much simpler. Half turn to unscrew, soak the sponge til it's damp and reassamble and pop in the sound hole. My Taylor Sense monitoring system tells me this works really well at keeping a constant humidity in the guitar. Recommended!

Used distilled water, fit my Larrivee guitar sound hole perfectly does what it advertises.Extra bonus, although a muffled sound I can still play the guitar.Would purchase again, great value for what it saves.

Works for what it is designed for but difficult to insert into sound hole. Over time it could mark the finish.
