I have been using elastic and found that it is hard to fit all people. These have the sliders that allow people to adjust, but also the material is so much softer and stretchy than regular elastic. I would never use just plain elastic anymore. I did see one at a letter price, but the length was a lot shorter. This one is working out well.

I used these for both hand made masks, and as a replacement for straps that go behind the head with high quality masks. I understand that straps going behind the head might offer a tighter fit, but it definitely comes with drawbacks as well. The top strap will slide up my hair and not really offer any support, and I found them incredibly annoying for long flights. Using these straps with something like a 3M N95 mask was just more comfortable, and helped my nicer masks fit much better on me. As for hand made masks, having adjustable straps helps me with how irritated my ears can get.

These were so much better than some others I ordered they were longer for the masks I made great product and so soft on the ears

The bands were long, not short like most elastic bands 3" or 4". They were just what I needed and they long enough.
