Love these notebooks. Good quality. If you’re looking for a top spiral notebook, get these.

I like the quality of the paper - I write with fountain pens and most American-produced paper runs when I write. While this is not the same quality of my writing paper I use for correspondence, it is better than most on the market.

I just received this notebook. Like a couple of other customers, I too LOVE Cambridge notebooks...for many years, but there's nothing wrong with this Mead Cambridge. It's a quality notebook and arrived pretty quickly after my order. I vividly recall paying quite a bit more for products that were labeled "Cambridge". This was very low cost and I think I received a book of a higher quality than the price charged. I'm not going to compare the spiral quality, etc. to others. That's been done and sometimes quality is in the eye of the beholder. I do a lot of writing with fountain pens. I just tested this book and didn't have any bleed-through. Will that always be the case? I don't know. Time will tell. I just saw a cheaply priced book, a name I knew from school, and for practicing letters or jotting down thoughts, it looks like this notebook will do just fine and again I'll say... look at the price. If you prefer another brand, then buy that one and don't order this cheaper notebook and complain about the quality. I've whittled down my lists on notebooks as the higher priced at an average of $16/book. Those higher priced books, as of yet, haven't equaled this Mead Cambridge, plus the higher priced ones are almost always are smaller in size - such as A5 and smaller. Just as with fountain pens, no one is always going to like everything someone else does. If you need a utility notebook give it a try. If you don't like it... then you're not out a lot of money. I've paid more for books of a lesser quality. Think about it... and give it a try. There is nothing "wrong" with this notebook. It's just a matter of preference. You might find that you are pleased with both this notebook's quality AND it's price! Oh, and mine came in a padded envelope. I've had small orders shipped in boxes too large for the contents before but maybe Amazon is becoming less wasteful.

Paper is thick and there is a thick backing for support during writing.

For 6$ I am happy with the cardboard backing so it’s not as flimsy, however paper is cheap and scratchy. I was expecting more smooth paper like other notebooks I own. I also was a bit unhappy with the stretched out spiral when I first opened the package (got it 20 min ago), I stretch it out enough on my own I didn’t want it to come partially done for me! Not going to return because it does the job I need it to, just slightly dissatisfied with the cosmetic aspects.Price: 4, good but could have been betterDurability: 4, but we will see as I continue to use itSturdy: 3; paper is thin but notebook itself is not flimsy.

The paper is of good weight and, most importantly, when using a fountain pen, the ink does not bleed through. Love the top spiral binding, makes taking and reading my notes much easier. Really like this!

I'm comparing this to the which I purchased at the same time. Will post this review at that page as well, thought this might be useful for someone trying to select one or the other. Both the TOPS and the Mead are spiral at the top. Mead has slightly larger chrome rings at the top, TOPS has slightly smaller white rings. Both have a protective "product cover" which is meant to be removed, with a cardboard cover over the notebook. The TOPS Docket definitely has a thicker FRONT cover, almost twice as thick as the Mead Cambridge I would say, but neither has a very thick cover. HOWEVER, the Mead has a much thicker BACK cover (not twice as thick but considerably thicker and harder to bend). Both notebooks have paper that is lined identically with "college rule", except the TOPS lines stop short of hitting the sides of the page at about 1/8 or 1/16 inch on each side. No big deal there. Both notebooks have a "microperf" at the top to remove them cleanly. Both contain 70 sheets. The TOPS paper is stated as 16 lb. on the cover. There is not stated "weight" on the Mead package (the product page here states 20 lb.), but the Mead paper is slightly thicker....you can feel it in your hand, and you can see it by comparing the "stack" of each notebook's 70 pages. Not a lot thicker, but again it is noticeable holding a single sheet. There may be another TOPS product which compares more favorably to this Mead product, but between these two I would choose the Mead Cambridge because of its thicker back cover (better support when writing away from a desk as I will be doing) and for its thicker paper. They were priced at 5.99 and 5.98 when I purchased here so no real price difference to consider.

I’ve very typically been a legal pad person well into my forties. However, the thickness of this paper made it so I went through an entire notebook plus flights to several cities without ever bending this notebook to non-use. I never ripped a page accidentally out of the loops. I am completely satisfied with this book and am looking to buy more of these to sustain my hand drawn notes habit.

I got used to buying and using these in College. They worked great back then, and they still work great today.

My favorite notebook. Note books should also have rings along the top rather than the side
