I want to use this to mount a camera on the top of an open double hung window. It clamps on the frame okay. I still need to attach a small tripod head. It has multiple screw holes for attaching a head so it should be fine.

I've tested many pole clamps in my studio, but the Camvates just work. I've used them as pole clamps and as clamped to a desk surface. Yes, they're a bit bigger than a vice clamp, but they have superior gripping capabilities. Flawless, every time. One of these days, I'll swap out all of my other clamps with these.

This clamp is really solid. I prefer the "T" handle, better grip and torque to apply pressure. The screw holes are in plenty of locations for various setups and positions. Unfortunately, I had to modify mine for my application. There are no screw holes at the bottom and top of the clamp. So I took it to a machine shop to drill and tap a new screw hole. It worked like a charm.I use a 1/4"-20 Male to 5/8"-27 Female Microphone screw adapter in the newly tapped hole and hung it to hold a mic boom and condenser mic off of a shelf above my desk. I'd say, about 5 lbs.. It holds it in place really well just above my face. This setup will also enable me to clamp it to a desk upside down and still use it like a mic stand.

The aluminum body of the clamp is great, very sturdy. I have several of these, and have not been disappointed in the clamp itself.Where the problems are - are in the bolt and the handle. The first one I received, the bolt was VERY sloppy in the threads of the clamp. I felt it would likely strip out, and discovered that they had selected a standard thread bolt for a metric-thread (M8) hole. Modification #1 - get a proper bolt. The bolt is just a threaded rod with the T-handle that screws onto it, secured with a setscrew. This is not very secure as another review mentions. Modification #2: Use a small angle grinder to make a flat spot that the setscrew can press against, no more chance of it turning loose by accident. The pressure plate on the clamp is secured (loosely) with a C-clip. Since I replaced the bolt, that was not possible any longer. Modification #3: Use the grinder to narrow the end of the bolt to fit through the pressure plate hole. If you are really good, notch the end to hold the C-clip.All in all - it is moderately useful for the price, with the understanding that this is still made by the VERY lowest bidder, so the quality of construction is kinda crap. It will do the job, but be prepared for some defects out of the box. The most recent one that I bought, the T-handle isn't even threaded straight on the bolt. It's like it was drilled by hand, by a blind person.

It clamps. Looks great, has lots of holes for diy mounting. Seems very robust.

This clamp looks cool, and appears to be versatile. I think it's a better pipe clamp than desk clamp, though. Here are two specific drawbacks: (1) this would be much more useful if it included a male 1/4''-20 threaded piece. Everything I wanted to mount via this clamp needed a male threaded adaptor, as does the clamp. If you don't own that piece already, this clamp won't help you. (2) The T-handle gets in the way of tight spaces, like clamping under a desk.Ironically, the same company offers a similar product without the T-handle, with the 1/4'' thread adaptor... for less money! I wish I'd bought that one instead. See Amazon item number B07TSBYNVL. That one costs less and is much more versatile than this one.

Clamp is sturdy & holds tight once set. Threads are good, no rough edges, & looks good. My only concern is the plastic pad covering the screw doesn't look like it will last over time. In any event, it's easy enough to replace with felt or rubber. Everything else seems of good quality.
