I have a pretty extensive home gym and have a variety of bars for Olympic plates from York, Ironmind, and other good manufacturers, but my bar for standard plates was starting to bug me because it has spin lock collars that loosen easily.I thought about getting a new 5' bar for my standard plates that I use for a few accessory lifts that would use regular collars and I started looking on Amazon. Some of the bars had reviews saying that they were a little thin and that spring collars wouldn't fit, but I didn't see anyone say that about this bar, so I bought it. This bar fits my standard plates perfectly. I tried some spring collars, which fit well, a long with Ironmind Bulldog II collars, which also fit (the latter are what I use on dumbbells to keep the plates secure).The bar seems solid and weighs 14lbs. I saw some different assumptions about weight, so I got on .y digital scale to weight myself, then grabbed the bar and stepped on the scale again. It's technically 13.8lb. by my scale, so I'm just rounding it to 14lb.The odd weight bugs my OCDa bit, so I put 1/2lb. micro plates on it to bring it to an even 15lb., although it honestly doesn't matter.I bought the black bar, just because chrome bars chip a little bit with time and I live in FL, where they'll get some rust (my gym is in my garage).Overall, I'm happy with this bar for what it is. It's inexpensive, but doesn't feel cheap. I didn't buy it for using on major, compound movements, since I have a variety of thick bars and Olympic bars for those, but it's great for accessory lifts. It's 5' long, so it's not going to work in my power rack, which is totally fine.Overall, I'd say you can't beat it for the bare bones $30 price tag.

This bar is very strong and does not bend like many other brands. It is also very reasonable priced at about half the price of other bars of the same length. I am very happy with this CAP barbell and fee very secure when doing lifts.

I was excited to receive my new Straight Bar today. The bar itself seems well-made and sturdy with a good weight. However, the packaging arrived ripped open on one end, which caused some minor damage to the bar itself.Note: This was likely due to shipping and not a manufacturing defect.On a personal note, I forgot to order barbell clamps along with the bar, which is an oversight on my part.Overall:Despite the minor packaging issue, I think I will be happy with the bar.Tips for Improvement:Packaging: Improve packaging to better protect the bar during shipping.Consider a bundle: Offer a bundle option that includes the bar and a pair of clamps for convenience

The bar was a great addition to my home gym. Very sturdy, no bending or warping so far. It was missing a rubber gasket, so I submitted a customer service request and a replacement arrived in less than a week.

Like the CAP dumbbell handles I ordered, this barbell is well made. There are no sharp edges or defects. The knurling is adequate and the chrome is even and well done. I wish there were small un-knurled rings to indicate hand spacing like other barbells have but otherwise, I have been happy with the purchase.The only knock I can give is that it was shipped in a cardboard tube. When the package arrived, the tube was mostly torn and missing on one end and one of the rubber washers was no where to be found. When I inspected the bar, it did have a small bend to it. I have been using it since it would be a pain to return it but I wish better packaging or more careful handling by the shipper was used.

Needed a longer bar to fit on my squat rack. Didn’t want to have to buy Olympic bar and weights since I had invested a lot in one inch weights. This worked well.

Took forever for them to ship when it said 2 days shipping. As soon as I clicked buy the shipping changed to over a week. 100% prime scam and I quit prime because of this. Will be buying locally from now on.It's a strong metal bar for hanging heavy weights on. Nice textured grip area, feels super sturdy and fits well in the hands.

Product shipped to me two days after I ordered it. No damage. It looks nice and feels nice. Fits my Olympic width bench nicely. Great price and will last a long time I'm sure.
