Salvatore Capezio was born in 1871 in Muro Lucano, Italy. Uninterested in following in his father's footsteps as a construction engineer, he became an artist of his own right, a cobbler. In 1887, at the age of 17, he opened his shop on Broadway and 39th Street, diagonally across from the old Metropolitan Opera House in New York City. Soon, the shop became a meeting place for dancers who would stop by to discuss their needs and to get a pair of his shoes. As Capezio's popularity grew, dancers from around the world made it a point to visit him and purchase his shoes. The innovation of the products that Salvatore Capezio created and the camaraderie he shared with the dancers molded the direction that his company would follow. In this image, the Capezio brand was established to promote and recognize ongoing achievements and participation in dance. Beginner tap dancer here!! Shoes fit true to size and felt great in my first tap class ever! Did not hurt my feet! Quality seems good as well!

I recently signed up for an adult tap class and needed new shoes, as the last time I tapped was over 30 years ago. I didn’t want to spend a ton, but also wanted to feel sure that I’d get a quality pair of shoes, so I was happy to find this well-priced Capezio pair.Tap shoes have gone up in quality in the last 30 years…these are SUPER comfortable! The leather is soft and I haven’t had any issues with rubbing.Based on other reviews, I ordered a half size up from my typical size. It works, but I do need a slightly thicker pair of socks because they are a tad roomy. I think I would have been just fine ordering my regular size.

These shoes are great tap shoes. Half the price of dance websites. The fit is hard. I have 2 daughters who needed the shoes. One daughter wears a 1 or 1.5 street shoe and the 1.5 fit her mostly perfectly with the heel slipping just a bit. My other daughter is 11 years old and wears a 5 street shoe a s the 5.5 was too small. I exchanged them for a 6.5 which for perfectly. The exchange was quick and easy. Just be ready to try a few sizes before finding the perfect fit.

Great ones, light - true size for me. I am wearing 5.5M street shoes in general, these tap shoes are also 5.5M - On the side of the feet, I need to 'break it' a little bit by walking around the house with them so they will be soften - not rubbing - hurt my side feet bones/skin.

I really like my new tap shoes. I got these because I needed a black pair of shoes but also wanted to try a lower heal. They were comfortable right from the start. I was worried about ordering these online, but haven't had any trouble with them at all.

My granddaughter needed a new pair of tap shoes. The ones at the dance wear store were out of my price range. I found these on sale! We ordered 1 size up. She wears a 7 in street shoes, I ordered an 8. Fits her fine and she likes them. She has worn them for an intensive and for a run of 12 shows. They do well with toe stands. They are holding up well. I'm saving the box so I can reorder when she wears these out.

These tap shoes are so much more comfortable than my previous ones, which were a different make and style. The uppers are leather and the insoles are cushioned so they are well worth the extra cost, in my opinion. I take a shoe size 5.5 wide fitting and bought a size 6 tap shoe. They fit well. The laces could do with being slightly longer but that's not a big problem.
