It's a great bag. Here are some things to know about it. * It's sturdy. It holds its shape pretty well considering how light it is. - it does have mesh sides, so it won't keep the dog dry if it gets splashed. * It's roomy. My 11 pound shih tzu had almost too much room -- he can lie down in it, turn around, sit up straight, etc. - I've found that padding it with blankets helps with comfort and stability * It's breathable and airy -- the sides and front have large scratch-resistant mesh regions. - but it won't keep the cat or dog warm if it's cold out * It has very high visibility, in and out, from all sides - you always know how your pet is doing, and they have a good view - but the mesh is also dark and will keep the sun out of their eyes * It folds up in a clever way and is extremely flat, maybe only an inch thick * The entire interior is waterproof and designed to be cleaned easily if the pet has an accident * Fuzzy mat on the bottom is removable/washable * As a backpack it's quite comfortable, with broad, padded straps, and thick padding on the pack. * Also comes with a carrying handle, pocket, securing strap, and other conveniences.Let's be frank: Your dog or cat is going to have to get used to being carried in a backpack. It can be a bumpy ride sometimes, and the pet may feel weird at first about going "backwards". I would not recommend buying one of these for an older animal who has never been carried like that before. However, if you have a younger pet, and you start them early, they can learn how to ride around and actually enjoy it. We did that with our dog, and he's very happy in bags.I won't be using this day to day because we carry him in a shoulder bag. However, having this bag puts me at ease. I know that if I ever find myself needing to carry Mozart for many hours, this is absolutely the best way to do it. The shoulder bags get tiring after an hour or so, but the backpack I could wear all day. So I have it "just in case".

I have more pets than hands so decided I needed a backpack or two to help out. This is the second one I got and, if I hadn't already used and enjoyed the first, I would have bought a second one of these instead. The structure is very thoughtfully designed and does not deform at all. The bottom is solid and hasn't bent with my 12 lb dog inside. The side piping has rigid boning in it that keeps the bag from collapsing inward. The materials are solid and well sewn. The back and straps are both ventilated and well padded, and there's a chest-strap to reduce jostling. It is comfortable to wear, easy to adjust, and doesn't dig into my shoulders or armpits. The side zippers open completely flat, making it easy to access and remove your pet as needed. The sides both have a clear vinyl zipped pocket on the bottom and rubberized mesh for the top 2/3rds. The front pocket has a mesh pouch on the front of the zippered, solid colored pocket where a wallet and keys can be stashed so they're not visible. The front mesh zips down and can be secured with velcro so it doesn't flop around. There is a leash anchored inside so your pet can't go anywhere even with that front window open.I haven't taken one of my animals flying yet but this carrier is the same size as my personal item bag, so should fit under a plane seat. There's also a strap on the back so you can slide the carrier over the handle of a rolling bag when on the go.Overall, it is very functional, attractively designed, and a carrier I wouldn't hesitate to purchase again or recommend to family.

This is really neat. I've been looking for a good sturdy backpack to take my cat on hikes, and this works great, It has soft padding on the bottom, lots of pockets for supplies, and a harness tether built right in. You can unzip the top panel as shown in case they'd rather ride on your shoulder or feel less trapped. It even folds up for easy storage in my small house.

I’ve tried several pet carriers over the years, and most of them ended in a battle just to get Milo inside. This one, though, has been a total game-changer. From the moment I set it up, he was curious instead of terrified—a rare win! The ventilation is great, with mesh panels that let him see outside without feeling too exposed. He’s usually pretty anxious in carriers, but with this, he stays calm and even sits up to watch everything while we’re walking. For me, the comfort level is a big plus. The padded straps make carrying Milo (who's about 14 pounds) much easier, even on longer walks. The structured bottom holds its shape well, and he seems comfortable enough to settle in. The storage pockets are a lifesaver—I can keep treats, a leash, and even my keys in there, so I don’t have to carry extra bags. We’ve used this for vet visits, short hikes, and even just neighborhood strolls, and it’s held up beautifully.

The Discala Cat Backpack Carrier is a good option for short trips with a small pet. The ventilation is nice, and the design is cute. It’s lightweight and easy to carry, making it convenient for travel or outdoor use. However, the backpack isn’t the most comfortable for extended wear. The straps could use more padding, and the bottom isn’t very sturdy, so my pet didn’t seem entirely comfortable inside. It works fine for quick outings, but for longer trips, there are more supportive options out there.
