This cat grass kit is convenient and easy to use. You can grow a batch of grass in about a week without any fancy lighting and expensive setups. Just soak, drain and wait. The kit even comes with 5 bags of seeds to help you get started.I’ve seen mixed reviews regarding the amount of seeds that germinate and sprout; ranging from 50% to none at all. My first batch of seeds had about 60% give or take. I grew this batch with plain tap water and kept it next to a windowsill. For the rest of my batches I added a small drop of liquid plant food to the soaking water (I used Schultz since it’s suitable for edible plants). This seemed to help tremendously because I had so many seeds that were already sprouting the next day! The roots were also growing fast and dense. I grew these batches in my bathroom which doesn’t get an any natural lighting.Onto the most important thing: how did my cats react? First of all they kept pulling out and munching on the young seeds, which is why I had to grow them to the bathroom. They love to snack on the fully grown grass and will actually search for it when it’s in the process of growing another batch. I will definitely get another kit to rotate so I can have a consistent supply of grass.

Our cats love cat grass!*. I thought this would be a less cumbersome way to grow small (very small, by the way) amounts rather than starting seeds in potting soil and keeping it watered. The water has to be flushed daily or it becomes extremely smelly and stagnant. This has to be done in place because it is impossible to carry this thing without getting a trail of water all over the floor. The allotted seeds provide a stingy and spindly stand of thin-bladed grass…if they don’t just mildew on the surface first.. My cats both took a look and a sniff and walked right by! Unfortunately, since my soil-grown grass lasted so long, by the time I learned all this, the return window had closed! I ordered more organic seed* and tried again. The putrid smell of the water and the labor intensity sent me right back to growing my kitties favorite grass in small aluminum tins of potting soil.. This thing was a total waste on every level.*Handy Pantry organic seed had virtually 100% germination for the 3 years it took me to use up a pound.

It was very easy to grow this. Our cat loves grazing on it for a short time each day. She now leaves my plants alone since she gets her greens from the cat grass!

This was a really cool project to grow to see if my kitten would like it. Ultimately she did. I only give it a 4 because the grass didn’t all grow like the picture shows.

I have a few different grass growers & when I saw this I wanted to give it a try. Especially, where you don't need to purchase & use soil. It grew great & fast & my Kitty loves the grass itself, but...it attracted knats! More so than any soil I have used. The other thing is that when my Kitty chewed & pulled at the grass, the seed pod would come out & water was being spilled out. Very messy. Works better if I cut the grass for her.

Easy to grow and - according to my cat - delicious!

Both of my cats showed no interest. I carefully followed the instructions. The grass is tough and has spiky tips. The pot is small but nicely made. I'm going to try catnip seeds from a different company as they both love fresh catnip from my garden in summer.

It was fun to watch it grow so quickly! I think my cat has been pulling a few out already, but I haven’t actually seen her eating it. The container for growing the grass is made well. I did soak the seeds for 6 hours before placing them in the strainer.
