This cup egg design is far superior to traditional cups. It's more stable, easier to store in the cabinet, and it provides a place for soft boiled egg shell bits and a little egg spoon. The modern design is Scandinavian in it's simple, yet elegant form and functionality. I also purchased a set of regular egg cups. One has already "disappeared" and I can' find anyplace in the dishwasher where they don't flip over, so I have to wash them by hand. This egg cup design fits just about anywhere in the dishwasher. It's simply perfect.

Just a generally better designed shape for boiled eggs. Most importantly, it does not fall down the sink drain and get stuck in the garbage disposal like the others have!!

Most Americans don’t know how to cook or serve soft boiled eggs. Most just boil them until they are like rubber. If you watch cooking shows most chefs use a soft boiled or cooked egg with a runny delicious yolk. Personally I steam eggs for about 6 minutes and using these egg cups you can serve them, cut off the tops and enjoy a properly cooked egg.

When I was a kid, I remember using wooden egg cups to hold our soft boiled eggs as we whacked the eggshell from the side, decapitating the top section, which was half the fun of having to eat an egg! But there was nowhere to place this piece other than toss it on the tablecloth or to have another plate nearby. Bealuffe Ceramic Egg Cups to the rescue! Now there’s a nice area around the egg cup to hold bits of shell, etc.What I liked even more about these egg cups was that the shape of the “plate†was not a round circle like many on the market, but more of a rounded-edge square shape, which matched more closely to my other plateware. And be aware that the color is not white-white (see photo of it nestled in the big bowl which is white), but a creamier white, slightly warmer but closer in color to my other off-white plates. I tried to photograph how it compares to my off-white plateware and a bowl that is truly white. Practically Perfect, I’ll tell you what!

Actually I bought these because I was tired of other cups falling through dishwasher rack. Nice!
