I had my original laser that came with my 3018 Prover and was satisfied with it.Well it finally died so I ordered this one because of the shield and built in air assist nozzle.It was a total plug and play item! After a few test to get the feel of it, I couldn't be happier!The 30mm focus point and smaller burn spot gave me more detail then I ever had with my old one!I wouldn't trade it for the world.

This does not fit the 2030-PRO-MAX without the adapter described on page 13 of the instruction manual. Sain Smart tech support was zero help with providing a part number to order or provide the missing part, instead they sent pictures from what looks like a 2018 and told me to try again. I have replied multiple times and they stopped responding.Update-I finally received the missing part. It’s just frustrating that it took multiple emails to convince tech support that I was missing it. I think the issue was translation. To their credit, Sain Smart offered me a full refund. I did not take it because the product is now functional.

To say I was disappointed with this is a gross understatement. Once I got the adapter from SainSmart (great support for that!) I was excited to give it a try. Did a couple of test runs to figure out the settings that would work best. Discovered that to cut 1.5mm basswood at 300mm at 80% and take 15(!!!) passes. Don't get me wrong, it looks great. I love having air assist. It really reduces the burn marks, but I don't love that it took an entire day to cut a fairly simple project with me sitting in the garage (9 sheets of wood).At this point, I'm looking into selling my entire Genmitsu 3020, the laser, and all the accessories I've accumulated and just go with a more powerful machine for laser cutting. I discovered (100% my fault - I fully take ownership of this) that I'm not that into cnc milling, but I LOVE laser cutting. With the disappointment with the laser, I'll just use the money of the sale to buy a much more powerful laser system. Taking over an hour per sheet cut is just not acceptable to me.

I bought this assuming that the laser coupled with the 3018 would somehow add up to better than advertised wattage. The assumption was fully fueled by the price difference in the two. Surely it's significantly better, right? Not even close. The air assist nozzle is nice and the body of the laser is really thin compared to my old laser. That's about it, otherwise it's a good 5.5 but nothing more or less.Actually, maybe less. My old rig was comfortable stepping at 2000mm, but the 3018 max is 1000, and it doesn't really like to run at that rate - depending on what you're cutting too.All in all, I trusted Sainsmart and bought blind. Ended up paying twice as much for a laser that can run half as fast, effectively.Save your money.
