I just received this apron a couple of days ago and only got to wear it once, but I am loving it so far! I wore it for most of my 10 hour shift in our kitchen and whenever I had it on I would almost forget I was wearing it. I love how sturdy the construction feels and also how lightweight the material is overall. It does absorb some water if doing something like dishes, but it seems to repell liquid spills at least straight out of the bag. We shall see how both of these last two things hold up after washing and constant wear. Now to the part that stands out beyond any other type of apron I've ever used. NO NECK PAIN! I have had chronic neck pain for a long time and any type of pressure or pull on my neck creates havoc after a few hours. All loop around aprons do this to me. The half aprons, just don't offer the coverage I want. I'm 5'10" and around 215 and need something that covers me well, but that didn't pull down on my neck. This beauty here seems to be the perfect solution. No pull whatsoever and as I mentioned above, it's easy to forget you have it on. It is a little more cumbersome to put on and off, but in the end it's really just seconds you are saving. I already have a trick to make it easy. I'm sure some people will do the same. Pockets are a little small, and spaced far apart, but they feel sturdy if you need to use them. I'd prefer that they were all the way to the center an touching, but they are still nice. This chef totally recommends this apron and hope they include this cross design on more styles. Give it a shot. Your neck will thank you!

I purchased this as a gift for a family member that is attending culinary school and has neck issues. The cross-back feature of this apron is helpful for neck strain. This apron is also lightweight, pretty solidly built and is sharp looking. I did not see any stray threads or seams/hems coming apart. If you are looking for an apron that will cross-back and be capable of wrapping around your waist and tie in the front, you will have to look for another apron. One note: I did have to open the plastic packaging in order to see the true color. While the apron was in the original packaging, it appeared to be charcoal in color rather than black. For the price, this is a decent apron for general use. It is much better than the quality that I find locally for a much higher price.

The main reason I purchased this apron was because I didn't like the feel of the aprons that go around your neck. I was always feeling like they were pulling my head down. This cross back apron feels more like backpack straps. It's got a good thick material to it and it's easy to adjust how high you wear it up your chest which is nice and the pockets come in handy, especially if your grilling outside and going back and forth between the kitchen and outdoors. I purchased the black with red-strips. I like that the red shows a little, but the red lines are thin enough where I'm not always worried I'll end up with huge stains that will be noticeable (well eventually I probably will). There are only two notes:1. Since this was my first cross back apron, it took some getting used to putting it on. I fumbled around with it the first few times trying to figure out how to put it on without having to totally undo the straps and retying it.2. Caution - If you like wrapping the straps back around the front of you to tie them and you're on the above average size, this may not be for you. I'm 5'10" and 175lbs with a 34in waist and I can wrap the straps back around in front and tie it, but barely. And I like to wear the apron high on my chest so there's not a lot of strap hanging down in front of my shoulders either. If you don't mind tying it in the back, then I don't think the length would be a problem for 99% of the cooks out there.

This apron could be almost perfect if it werent so clumsy to get on and off. Fabric is nice, black pinstripe, durable and size is ample but I feel if they cut the bib width in just a bit ,so it would stay on smaller shoulders better, and lengthened the waist ties a good 10 inches or more so that they can easily be tied in the front and not come out of the side loops when removing, the ease of use would be greatly improved. I love that there is no weight on the neck, but the hassle factor of putting the apron on and off makes me choose another apron many times. I am a size 10 average woman and own close to 30 aprons and so wanted this to be my new favorite.

This apron is excellent quality (the fabric is a little on the stiff side) and it has been perfect to wear in our workshop; the clean lines and pinstripes make it suitable to wear up front to consult with customers as well. But the stand out feature really is the crisscrossed straps!! This CAN be more difficult to put on than a standard apron, but to me it's worth it to keep the strap off my neck. I would recommend not unthreading/uncrossing the straps from the side loops each time, if you can avoid it.What works for me is when I remove it, I untie it behind me and loosely tie the ends in front of me instead (which keeps them from accidentally pulling free), then slide it off over my head. I hang it up where the straps cross in the back and when I put it back on, I slip back in between the crisscrossed straps and retie at the waist. At most, I may have to untwist the straps at my shoulders or back for comfort but usually it's good to go!

Comfortable, takes the pressure of the apron off your neck, which is invaluable during a long shift. Materiel is strong and resistant, easy to clean and care for. If you're a chef and in the market for a new apron, I cannot recommend this highly enough. They're now my every-day apron.

Love this new apron, I will purchase more in the future. Simple basic and well made. The cross back looks neat and feels so much better than aprons that hang off the neck.
