After getting it in I tested it with just water in the pans to see how hot it gets. A few reviews said didn't get hot enough. I can say after about 15 minutes on high the water got hot enough to produce steam. Which is plenty to keep things hot. It will come in handy keeping things warm or for parties and family functions.

I tried low setting but hardly any heat --didn't keep food warm. Had to crank it up to get much warming. Works if you turn it up quite a bit.

Sadly, I am 95% sure I am going to return this. I really wanted to love it but I’m just not there.First of all, I plugged it in and it takes quite a while to heat up. Even on for about 10 minutes (on high) I was able to run my hand across the surface. I didn’t leave my hand in one spot long enough to see how hot the temp got but it certainly did not feel HOT to me.Next, the dial is a bit wonky. The temp settings don’t seem to line up with the control. The perimeter (at least an inch) did not get warm. On my unit that reduces the heated surface area quite a bit.Thirdly, while questioning my purchase, I started reading reviews. My particular unit does not have vent slats on the sides like the picture shows. That makes me nervous, especially reading the one star reviews where unit exploded sending glass flying. My purchase was made to be used this weekend for an outdoor Super Bowl/pool party and I certainly don’t want glass flying anywhere and especially at a crowded party near my friend’s pool area.

This food warmer is awesome, it gives you a steady heat and I use it often when I make different Chinese dishes for my hubby. I really like the adjustable heat feature. It keeps the food pretty warm to hot. It's super handy at home.

It was great over the holidays for Christmas dinner. I need to replace a couple lids. As my dog thought it would be fun to chew lol. Where can I buy replacement lids?

I was not satisfied with the Chefman electric buffer server. The worn box came with a missing tray on the buffer server product . I dropped off this returned item at Purolater and need to get a refund.
