Works great with a few considerations. This is a good little chiller. The fact that the chiller and pump are separate is a good idea with fact that the pump would likely be the first thing to wear out. But it can make for kind of a messy setup of hoses and cables around your ice bath.I highly suggest starting with cold water with a few ice blocks in your bath rather than trying to chill room temperature water. That may defeat the purpose a little, but will help speed up the process quite a bit. We are talking a day or two with then1/3HP chiller if you let it do all the work vs. being able to use your ice bath immediately and then keeping it cold.I am skeptical of the water filter. Being a small inline filter, as it gets dirty, it’s going to impede water flow. A skimmer type of filter or something with more room for flow would be better, but might increase the price of chiller package quite a bit.The build quality is nice. It’s quite a hefty unit, even for being the smaller of the three units. The black powder coat is classy, but could absorb heat if placed in a sunny location, so keep that in mind. The control is very straight forward and simple to set.Plastic fittings give me a bit of pause. I would be gentle when attaching the hoses, and make sure nothing gets cross threaded. The hoses are a generous length, and you will want to place the chiller a good distance from your bath. This is an electrical appliance after all. Making sure you use a grounded outlet and not splashing water on anything is key to safety.Over all this is a good chiller. If you use your ice bath daily, and want to keep it available on your schedule. This chiller is a good buy to keep you frosty!

I got this chiller for an inflatable cold plunge. While it does function and get the water to under 50, it does require hours of time running to "prep" the water to that temperature -- dependent upon initial water temperature, ambient temperatures, goal temperature, material temperatures, etc. I have another ActiveAqua chiller that is 1/4 HP and I think it performs about the same as this chiller, so maybe this one is slightly underpowered? It's very easy, straightforward to install. I upgraded the filter using a 2.5x10 filter housing and a carbon filter with a high flow rate to not bog down the pump.If I were to do it over again, I'd consider holding off until I could get a large chiller so as to not have to require as much cooling down time. I'm not sure I'd recommend it as a result. Maybe for keeping fish or something.

I have been wanting a cold plunge for awhile. I had been using my pool as a cold plunge in winter and love the after effects of a cold water plunge. I was trying to do the same this winter, but my area has been unseasonably warm and my pool is still in the 70s. I ordered this chiller, along with a tub, to continue cold plunging. After hooking everything up, I let it run for a day and the water when from 70s to high 40s. I had it set at 45, but my first plunge felt like I was being electrocuted it was so cold. I have since turned it up to about 50 to try to adjust slowly to colder temperatures. The difference between 60s and 40s is staggering. This chiller was extremely easy to set up, came with everything needed to get the tub up and running, and is a set it and forget it system. The 1/3 HP has no issue keeping water at set temperature. I don't know how efficient it will be in the dead of summer with ambient temps in the high 90s, but I guess I will find out. I thought I would need a much higher HP rating, but this is doing fine for now. As is, I will only add a better filter and insulated tubing as the difference between the ambient and the water temps make the tube sweat a lot and the moisture collects on the top of the chiller, on the pump, and drips enough that it looks like a leak sometimes. Other than these small changes, this is a solid chiller that won't break the bank and will keep you cold when you want to be.

This is a great chiller. After shopping quite a bit for cold plunge chillers, I was about to give up on finding something reasonably priced. However, this came across and is an outstanding value for the money. This is a complete kit that includes the filter, pump, and all hoses needed to hook up to any cold plunge tub. It is easy to set up with a digital display, and operation is mostly silent! There doesn’t seem to be any leakage from the unit on I am expecting years of worry free operation from it.

I love my ice baths, but I hate the hassle of keeping ice on hand. I used to rely on 8lb ice block molds, cycling through them daily for my baths. Occasionally, I’d need an extra block, which would throw off my routine. This chiller completely fixes that problem! I have it set on a timer to start up two hours before I wake up, so the water is ready when I get up. Most days, it gets the water cold enough, but sometimes I’ll add a block of ice for that extra "shock" factor—it really wakes me up! Combined with my DIY bucket filter, my water is always ready to go. I also appreciate that the pump is separate, and it even comes with a spare! It is on the pricier side, but if you’re taking the daily plunge and want the water just right every time, it’s absolutely worth it.

The chiller arrived well-packaged with no leaks, and setup was straightforward. It runs quietly and works as expected, but cooling takes longer than anticipated, especially in warmer environments. This model is best suited for indoor use or controlled temperatures and maybe left running. So far, I’m happy with it, but those needing rapid cooling should consider a higher HP version.
