This rain gauge is tall, over 12 inches including the "stake" at the bottom for sticking in the ground. The measuring part of it is just over 8 inches. I attached mine to my deck railing using the included bracket. The gauge is very easy to read, and the plastic has withstood a couple of freezing mornings. I'm very pleased with it.

Good design, easy to empty,easy to read.The real test will be how well it holds up to direct sun light.,most of these plastic models turn milky after a few monthsIn the sun.

This is a pretty standard rain gauge, but the best part is that it's easy to empty, It slides into a sleeve and to empty it, pull it out of the sleeve, turn it upside down, and reinsert it into the sleeve. I highly recommend it!
