This is a good reed case. First, the case's outer edge has a small ridge all the way around it that fits snugly with the other side of the case, making a case that closes securely and that the halves will not slide sideways even if pressured to do so. Secondly, the case closes securely but opens easily when you figure out exactly where to press. The case is a black case, and that is really the only color allowed on stage, so that is very good. The 8 reed slots have ribs that do securely hold the reed but allows air to circulate. The rubber band that holds them in looks like it will last and won't oxidize easily. It could be replaced, but not easily since it is secured everywhere. The two halves are not numbered or labeled, but you can easily figure out which reed is which by the label on one side of the case. The reeds are held securely so that they do not move even when subjected to a fairly hard tap on the case. All of this is very, very good in our opinion.8 reeds is a very good number of reeds, however 10 would be a whole box of reeds. My wife felt that 8 reeds was plenty generous, while I felt that 10 would be better. She would know much more than I would, but the engineer in me says 10 would be better. The only fly in the ointment is that there is no venting to the case. Lets face it, reeds are still slightly wet even if you dry them and some air circulation would be better than none. If you live in a very dry climate, no venting might be better though since too dry of a reed is bad. We plan to drill very small holes in key spots all around the case to allow the reeds to breathe a small amount. Not a big deal, but perhaps if the manufacturer could vent it, then this reed case would be completely ideal for us.My wife is a 30+ year professional clarinetist and she says it is a very good case as is, and with only the addition of a couple small 1/8" holes in the case, it is likely as good a case as could be had at any cost.Highly recommended indeed!

Fits up to 8 reeds…4 on each side. Nice job protecting reeds and keeping them from being in individual packages. Fit is slim and won’t be bulky in the clarinet case. Will be interested to see if the snap closure holds up over time

Most musicians can't get enough accessories that help them organize the myriad components required to use their instruments. Having a hard case for reeds is so nice. You can keep your favorite reeds always in your case and not have to worry about them being damaged with this case. Allows you to carry four standard size reeds in a very compact space. Don't hesitate to get this for the reed player in your life as a gift, it is highly worth the money.

my 6th grader is constantly losing reeds. This helps him be a little more organized. We're no longer constantly losing reed. AND now it's easier for him to see which reeds are ready to be thrown out.

This isn't the top of the line reed case, but it will do the job. It is a well made. It is a little tricky to open needing a finger nail or a flat edged tool. It holds four on each side. I use it for my tenor sax reeds on one side and soprano on the other. The grooved surface allows them to stay flat while drying and elastic bands holds them in place. Once loaded it snaps shut for secure transport.

This is a plastic case for your clarinet reeds. It's a bit fiddly to open, and overall feels really cheap. It works, but it doesn't seem worth the effort to move your reeds into it. Not anything special.

I have an old D'Addario case which this one looks very similar to. However, the old case had soft-touch plastic, which became sticky over time. This case has a hard plastic finish so it will not become sticky over time, which to me is already a win over the original one. The latch is kind of hard to open but it does get easier after a few times. The most important part is that the reeds are held on a flat surface, which this one has.

No, it's not just for clarinets as the description may mislead you into believing. I don't have any clarinet reeds, but I assume they'll fit this case just fine. I say that because both my alto and my tenor saxophone reeds will fit. Aside from that, not much to say. It's a rigid plastic folding case that holds eight reeds.
