Safe, effective and environmentally friendly! Professional saw shops know that clean cutting edges run cooler, cut better and last longer. That's why we had several quality blade sharpening services test our Formula 2050. The results? In a word, "Phenomenal!" Most blade and bit cleaning products work with a dissolving action, using some powerful and nasty chemicals to dissolve wood residues and adhesives. Our safe and nontoxic Formula 2050 penetrates the microscopic cracks in the resin and attacks the bond between it and the carbide or steel surfaces. The resin releases its grip and you simply wipe it off. Formula 2050 keeps your tooling clean and helps you increase the time between sharpenings and replacement, and your satisfaction is guaranteed! This product received a five-star performance rating from Wood Magazine.

This product is capable of dissolving all of the gum and pitch that accumulates on your wood cutting tools. It does require a good soak and light brush to achieve complete dissolution of the gum/pitch but considering the alternative solvents, this one is by far the best I've used. I'd still recommend using gloves when working with this because if you happen to have any cuts or cracks on your hands, the citrus (likely, citric acid) in this cleaner will make them burn. It has a pleasant citrus smell as well and is easy to use. I purchased the gallon size for a couple of reasons. First, the savings (when comparing it to the 16oz. bottle) and second, you can reuse it if you filter it back into the original container. I used some paint strainers to filter the cleaner back into the original container.

Just purchased my third bottle of CMT cleaner. I soak my sawblades in it for a few hours, brush the pitch off the teeth, and wipe dry. I also do the same for all my cnc bits. It works great for my flycutter bit.

Saw blades cut so much better when they are clean. I have probably tossed many blades thinking they were dull when all they really needed was a good clean. Wood pitch builds up as soon as you start using a new blade. It may not look like much but it effects the ease and quality of the cut. If you soak a blade in this product and brush with a brass or nylon brush, the pitch pretty much falls off and the teeth will shine like new. Now I just need to do my router bits.

I’ve used this CMT product for a decade or so and wouldn’t even try a different product. It softens tight gum and pitch in seconds on cast iron tables, aluminum fences, bandsaw blades and tires, Laguna guide blocks and as a bonus………an excellent cast iron table preservative against corrosion.Takes very little from a spray bottle to clean a lot making it a great value. At the end of the day I simply mist all the cast iron andLeave it alone for a night, week or what ever.Same with molding knives, shaper and router cutters.Terrific Product

I’m a commercial cabinetry and millwork shop. We clean blades sometime two to three times daily. The product we used to use has been discontinued so we tried this product. Not very impressed. Left residue on the blades even after applying the product twice.

This product works, but not as easily as I would like. In order to really clean a blade loaded with hardened pitch, I needed to soak the blade several times, and vigorously scrub with a brass-bristled brush each time. Almost all of the build-up came off, but it took about 90 minutes to clean 6 blades. It is also useful to spray this cleaner on - I dipped some of the more difficult blades in a bath, but most of the applications I did were with a spray. No objectionable odor and cleans up easily. Make a bed of old rags (or similar) to work on and scrub with something that won't scratch or dull your steel blades and carbide tips. If you don't rinse, you will be left with a bit of a messy look on your newly cleaned blade. I rinsed! In the end, my old blades look brand new.

I have used it on saw blades and it works. I give it 5 stars for a job that looked impossible. If you have a drum thickness sander and the sanding belt is heavily clogged up the rubber block you hold against the spinning head does nothing, fill up a large jar with CMT and drop the roll into the jar. After 24 hours stretch the paper out on the drive way and spray off with a hose. You will still have a few spots that a wire brush will remove easily. I did not invent this. Go to you tube, clean sanding belt, Dan Erliwine, Stewart McDonald.

Bought spray bottle version previously to try this product...now that i have no more of it left, i bought more, being this bigger version. Comes in a blue non-seethrough container, not like as shown in this description, not that it makes any difference to the actual product.
