Note: The detachable tone detector and right angle barrel connector are connected together when you receive the product and can be removed when in use.
Please perform the test according to the following steps to ensure proper use of the product

It is simple to use and nearly foolproof. I needed to trace a coax wall outlet in a guest bedroom of our new house back to an unlabeled bundle of coax in the basement at the point where the service enters the house. The previous owner nor their builder had ever labeled any of the coax routed throughout the house. I loaded a AAA battery into the tool, unscrewed the receiver/toner from the base and plugged the unit into the bedroom wall connection. Then I went to the basement and started screwing the receiver into the connectors on the various cables until I got to the one with the tool at the other end and a tone emitted from the end of the receiver. I then labeled that cable appropriately. By moving the tool to the coax in each room you can easily identify them one by one. Simple but effective.

I was making changes to our cable TV system and there was a "rat's nest" of cables. This tool helped me figure it out. It is very easy to use. Without it, I would have spent the entire day. I finished in an hour and all the changes are working fine.

Had a long cable run in a three floor house. Seven lines to test to find the correct run. It saved me time and considerable number of steps. Made short work of what was needed. Very happy with this tool. Reasonable price.

Works as advertised. Put the small tone generator in the room with the coax cable. Took the other large portion of the tool to the panel with about 20 different coax cables and was pretty easily able to find the right one. Just barely had to touch it to the cable and it found it.
