As a professional player, I have to say that this bow is not an equal to a fine bow. But as a useful, strong and reliable backup it is very, very good. I bought it to keep in my case as a companion to my French and German bows. I use it when rehairing the others, or in situations where I can afford to give my other bows a rest. Advancing students should find it better than student level bows. It is well-balanced, easy to play, and produces a surprisingly good sound. It is much less influenced by temperature or humidity than pernambuco-and it is virtually indestructible.

I cannot say enough good things about this bow. I am beginner/intermediate player and the quality of my playing increased exponetially with this bow. It is responsive, easy to handle, and produces absolutely amazing sound. If you invest this kind of money for a bow, make sure to use a high quality rosin. It's worth the extra few bucks.
