Learn how to weave a pine needle basket
Step-by-step you will learn how to coil and stitch a fragrant pine needle basket of your own design. Choose from eight easy basketry stitches and a variety of lovely basket shapes. As you stitch your basket, you will develop mindfulness - a wonderful, calming activity!
Prepare to spend some time on this project. It could take about 6 hours over several days.

With The COMPLETE PINE NEEDLE BASKET KIT, you can make one 4"-6" coiled basket. Multiple stitches are taught. It's fun and relaxing.
The kit comes packed in a plastic bag that can be used to store materials while you make your basket.
Baskets are woven containers. They are extremely important to human existence because they allow for the storage of food and carrying of resources. Humans worldwide have used native materials to craft baskets to aid in daily tasks and requirements. In addition to utilitarian basketry, decorative basketry is also important for artistic expressions of individuality and spirituality.
Archaeologists and historians have learned much about ancient cultures from basketry fragments which have been found across the globe. Basketry continues on as an important human activity.
BASKETRY
The four main types of basketry are coiling, plaiting, twining and wicker. Each type requires different types of materials and has many variations of designs, shapes, sizes and techniques. Our kits are designed with the beginner in mind. However, we also offer many kits for the more advanced basket maker, who is willing to put in several hours to complete a more elaborate pattern. Many of our kits include design templates so that you can create your own patterns and order supplies from us as needed.
POTTERY
Pottery is also a traditional craft that most cultures that had access to clay performed. Pots were made for practical uses such as foods storage and preparation, as well as ceremonial and decorative purposes. Today we still enjoy handmade pottery made by artisans and sold in many galleries across the world. We have developed our pottery kits so that you can complete an air-dried pinch pot and decorate it with as many decorative design options as you like.
OTHER CRAFTS
People are extremely creative and when there is a need for something, it can be made. We have also included several other craft kits such as weaving, ornaments, noise making instruments, rock carvings.

This was so much easier to make than I expected - I have marveled at the design and hand work of these pine needle baskets in museums, at arts & crafts shows - never ever did I expect it to be as easy to make as they actually are! I got this kit, made it up (hardest part is the starting knots in the waxed linen thread) and was enthralled with the process of bundling, binding, coiling and building the basket. Being in the Pacific NW at the time, long needle pines were everywhere and shedding their needles constantly so I was able to make more than the one basket after learning with the kit... these made wonderful holiday gifts for family and friends.

I have soaked and soaked the pine needles and they still break. I have set it aside several times out of frustration. I'll update my review if I'm ever able to get the basket started.

I’m just starting my journey to learn pine-needle basketry. Bought a kit, but instructions were unclear. Referred to this book to solve my questions. Instructions are excellent, helpful photos, precise illustrations, and so much more. Highly recommend for a beginner like myself!

I was very excited about this and from the reviews it sounded amazing! However, these instructions are very bare. I think a few more accurate diagrams could help. I was confused and turned to YouTube and discovered this seller has videos… but they do not match the instructs I received. Maybe I’m lacking some base knowledge or something, but I’ve had two other people try to understand the first few steps and we all get lost at “coiling and stitchingâ€. :/ bummer overall
