I ordered these replacement hinges on 8/5/24 with a bit of trepidation, given prior Amazon consumer reviews from a year or two back, including "Do not fit 5286B cooler By MarkJ in the United States on March 28, 2023", and "Sort of works on older models 5286B, 5296, 5248 By Bubba in the United States on April 22, 2022".It appears that since the time when these prior reviews were written, Coleman has updated the hinges, because I can attest that they do indeed fit perfectly in place of the failing plastic hinges that originally came with my Coleman Cooler 5286B, 5296, 5248. They required no alteration or adjustment. I did decide to use the original screws that came with my Coleman Cooler, as they are quite a bit more robust than the smaller screws which accompany the replacement plastic hinges.I am posting photos showing the product numbers on the bottom of my Coleman Cooler (5286B, 5296, 5248), as well as the newly installed replacement hinges, with the original hinges placed alongside, to show the equivalent dimensions.I am giving five stars for this now easy fix, which restored the usefulness and function of my otherwise perfectly good cooler. Thank you Coleman and Amazon!

I had two older Coleman coolers on which the plastic hinges had broken. My large cooler had wheels, the smaller one did not; both were at least 10 years old. I set out to buy new coolers, which was not as easy as I thought it would be. Coolers seem to have grown over the years and were larger than I wanted given the storage space available behind the front seats in my Ford F150. I finally found an Igloo ice chest that was just the right size, but upon getting it home I realized its wheels were mounted on the short sides rather than on the long sides. This meant that the ice chest had to be pulled in the direction of its width and I didn't have an aisle that wide in my two car garage. Also my old ice chest had a drain plug, the new one did not. So I ordered replacement hinges. The hinges fit both chests, were easy to install, I saved over $50 and can still use chests that I am familiar with. Note: the model # was on the bottom of each chest and although the number on one chest did not match the replacement #, the hinge sizes and hole locations matched the diagram of the replacement hinge. (if you plan to do this save your broken hinges to use as a guide.)
