This classic metal spring toy walks downstairs, alone or in pairs, and makes a slink-ity sound. First invented by mechanical engineer Richard James in 1943 during an experiment with tension coils. James accidentally dropped a spring on the floor and watched as it began to “walk.” Two years later, he introduced his walking spring toy in Gimbels Department Store, and the Slinky immediately sold out. Since its debut, over 300 million Slinkys have been sold worldwide. In 2000, this classic toy was inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame. This collector’s toy is packaged in a cardboard box that was inspired by the artwork used on the packaging for the first Slinky in 1945. The spring is even a black metal to reproduce the look of the original Slinky. Made 75 years ago, Slinky continues to be a favorite toy of children and adults all over the world. Slinky is fun for a girl or a boy ages 5 and up. Everyone loves a Slinky!

I had these when I was a kid and enjoyed them for hours…but this one I’m using g as a squirrel baffle and it works fantastic! No animals are harmed but the the squirrels can’t figure out how to climb it!

I enjoy this slinky. Good weight, nice color, walks down the stairs, but the only negative is that it smells and I'm afraid of wiping it down because I don't want it to rust.Update 9/11/2022: I don't know when it happened, but the smell isn't noticeable anymore.

I used it on my bird feeder pole to make it hard for the squirrels to climb and it worked! Loved these because they are black and blended in with the pole!

Perfect. No lubricant. No black coming off of it. Exactly like I remember. Walked the stairs but as always that takes practice. My kid loves it too.
