I originally purchased the Amazon smart thermostat but it would fail to update and configure properly. Returned it and bought another with the same result. They are garbage.This Google Nest was on the list of certified energy efficient smart thermostats and qualified for a rebate with my utility company. So after two failures with the Amazon brand I decided to try this one.Install was very easy and simple. Device worked immediately and was easily connected and configured. No missing parts and no defects. I does not have a back plate so you will need to buy that separately. Personally I think it should be provided with the thermostat instead of requiring a separate purchase.Overall it works perfectly, looks nice, and I've had zero problems with it so far. Would definitely recommend.

It is a wall plate for Google thermostat. It fits in with the thermostat pretty well and cover up the wall.

I had a clunky Honeywell thermostat that left a big unpainted area on the wall. This plate covers 99% of my previous thermostat and fits perfectly to my traditional Nest Thermostat .

Quantity backplate for the 2020 nest. Works well but I wish it came with the metal piece the goes behind it. Because it doesn't if you tighten it to much it squishes in the center and the thermostat won't click on. So, in my opinion it should be used for a replacement if you already have the little metal plate. But this is a quality piece for the price.

Plate has four holes so it could be mounted upwards/tall in "portrait" style or in "landscape" mode like I've done it in my photo. I think the tall mount option looks better, but there were too many holes to cover in my wall.
