Power inlet boxes run power to critical electrical systems, while avoiding harmful exhaust fumes that a generator produces. Simply mount the box on the exterior of a home/business, and run the wiring to a transfer switch/box installation.
When emergency power is needed, connect a generator cord to the inlet box, and flip the switch for the transfer unit.
These boxes are equipped with a SS2-50 (CS6375) male configuration for large systems.
We offer several different finishes of inlet boxes that are all corrosion resistant powder coated steel. Each inlet features a weather-sealing cap that closes tightly when not in use to keep the elements out.

I wanted a product that is safe, one person commented that it was not UL listed, so its the first thing I checked. As you can see in the photo, its UL Listed for Marine use.The box is heavy gage steel, and the supplied ground wires are 6 gage as they should be. The instructions are printed in proper english in large print on a nice sheet of 8-1/2 X 11 paper. This is a bargain for the price. Its triple digit weather so I'll be installing it when the weather cools.

I looked at several options to tie my generator into the house box, and settled on an interlock device, and this disconnect for the generator. As some have stated, it's a bit of a challenge when working with 6 gauge wire, but it's not beyond the average users ability to wire it up. Don't be scared, it will fit easily if you follow the directions and cut the wires to 2" and strip 5/8" from the ends.I took off one star for the woefully inadequate grounding stud on the cover. If it doesn't break off during install, I would break it off on purpose, and drill the hole out to 1/4" and either change the wiring lugs out to ones that will fit over a 1/4" bolt, or what I did was to hold the lugs firmly in a pair of pliers and drill the lugs to 1/4". The result is a ground that will actually hold the ground wires for decades. After inserting the wires and torquing them to the specified torque it was fairly easy to tuck the wires up into the box and secure the cover. A click & twist of the generator to box cable & I was in business. I tested the cable with a multimeter, as well as at the breaker in the main panel, and the voltage was spot on.This box is very sturdy in it's construction. The cover is another story. If you are mounting this outside in the elements, I would suggest installing the optional heavy duty cover. The included plastic unit is very flimsy, and I can imagine fumbling with a heavy gauge cable in the dark during a power outage and breaking the cover easily in situation like this. My generator is in a sound damping enclosure, so the box is actually "inside" and will stay connected permanently, so the cover shouldn't be an issue for me.After turning off ALL breakers to include the main 200 amp breaker, I threw the interlock switch to energize the panel, and with the exception of the heat pump I was running the entire house to include the well pump and water heater (10k starting/8500 running watts). If you're considering this box don't hesitate. It's a solid piece with quality electrical components that I feel very confident about using for extended periods of generator use.Don't worry about the wiring challenges, it's a breeze if you take your time & follow the instructions. Change out that grounding post and you're set!

I have a portable generator, but it was very inconvenient to use during power outages because powered appliances/devices were not close to each other, and we had to run a lot of long extension cords. Ran a wire from panel to an exterior wall, and installed this box. Now we just plug the generator in and fire it up. Of course, doing this also requires an interlock on the main panel, but this makes it SOOO much easier to power everything up during an outage.

This box has the connector oriented properly to fit the Camco 55574 right-angle connector cord so that it hangs straight down (the Reliance PB50 didn't, nor could it be rotated to a position that worked)There is also more room in this box to accommodate #6 wiring. While the Reliance PB50 did have a (perhaps heavier-duty) "Marinco" branded connector, a spring-loaded cover, and was UL listed; I believe this Conntek is sufficient quality and better overall (for my purposes).I had no trouble with the (admittedly tiny) ground post, just be careful with the wire routing and don't over-torque the nyloc nut securing the ground wires to it.

Really easy install! Used 3/4 carflex because I expected to have an outdoor panel but ended up installing an indoor panel and just ran the seal tight in the wall outward. 6AWG wire. Currently using it with generator as main source of power right now and works great, easy hookup.
