The suction cup does not move until you release it! The peel is perfection-thin enough to remove the peel, but does not sacrifice the flesh of the apple. The spiral slicer and corer is efficient and makes preparing apples for my granddaughter fun and simple! In fact, I am FaceTimed often to peel an apple for her viewing pleasure! She loves the peeled apples you can purchase and this does the trick, quickly, easily and safely!I used home grown apples that were small, bumpy and ugly! Johnny Apple’s removal of the skin made these ugly ducklings into beautiful swans!User error resulted in a misaligned core and I accidentally bumped corer once which stopped my process until I figured it out!I peeled, cored and sliced enough small (plum sized) apples in 30 minutes which made almost a gallon of apple butter. (It was a lot of apples!)I plan to try potatoes next. I have an electric peeler which had very little success with anything.I did not buy the unbranded intentionally because of the big job ahead of me. I’m glad I spent more money on the real thing. The Johnny Apple Peeler is a sturdy, easy to use kitchen tool that I did not realize how much I needed!I plan to buy another one as a gift for a very special granddaughter and her family!

Does an outstanding job peeling, slicing and coring. I was a little unsure about the suction mount but very glad I selected this option. The suction mount holds onto my granite counter as if it was bolted down - but also very easy to release. The peeler cleans up easy. It is simple to use and makes fast work of a bag of apples.

Wow what a surprise, came quickly and well packaged. Easy to use and well made. It's a solid machine. No cheap parts. Easy to clean but the best part is how well it peels. I peeled six apples and one potato in about 2 minutes. (there was a little bit of a learning curve) It comes with the slicer in place. So, I got my first apple sliced and peeled, the core came right out. This will be nice for potatoes casseroles. After removing the slicer, I was able to peel the apples very quickly. It works so fast and well on potatoes. WOW how did I survive without this machine. The peel can be thicker for curly fries or shoestring zucchini. Would make a great gift for a baker in your family.

Read many reviews on many apple peelers and the Johnny Apple Peeler VKP1010 kept coming up as one of the better ones. So I ordered one.It arrived at my doorstep today December 1, 2021I read all the instructions that came with it which are pretty straight forward.Watched all the videos on line that the instructions recommended I watch, and I followed along with my Johnny Apple Peeler in hand as the videos explained each feature. Pausing as needed.I didn't assemble it yet as it's getting late and I am starting to get sleepy. I put it all back in the box for tomorrow...... but, before putting it in the box I gave it the once over and discovered that the Stainless Steel Coring & Slicing Blade looks very very rough, rugged, and jagged. The part that does the slicing and not the part that does the coring. I ran my fingers on it the see if it felt like it looked and it did. It is very very rough. It even looks somewhat brittle on the cutting edge and that some of the smaller particles may fall off, meaning they very well may end up in my sliced apples for consumption! Yikes!I felt a few "prickles" on my fingers soon after I rubbed them on the jagged edge, so I quickly washed my hands with soap and water and rinsed them thoroughly and then wiped them dry. The prickly feeling when away.I'll either have to contact Amazon soon or the manufacturer soon and ask if this is the way the cutting blade is supposed to look. I can't believe that it is. I would expect it to look more like a smooth razor blade, not a rake for leaves.I'll come back and update this remark when I find out more.Update: December 5, 2021I set up the return online and also reordered a replacement Johnny Apple Peeler at the same time on Dec 4, 2021.Printed out the supplied QR code that I'll need to show when I take my return to Whole Foods.Went to Whole Foods and the process was very very easy to return the item.I received my replacement Johnny Apple Peeler today! One day later.I opened it up and gave the cutting blades a good inspection. This one was in much better shape but still kinda rough. I guess that’s just the way it’s going to be and the best they can do Taiwan were this item is made. The rest of the item seems in good shape.I strongly recommend you CAREFULLY take the coring and slicing blade off the machine and carefully and gently “swish” it by hand in a soapy bowl of hot water, rinse it off, and then gently dab it dry and replace it.The reason I recommend this is because there seem to be some oily contaminants on the blade, as well as small metal shards and particles that may fall off when you first use this item, and most people would not want to ingest something like that.Whether you take this blade off or not, it is very important that you alien the coring part of the blade with the steel shaft. Not an easy task I might add, but take the time to do it. If you want it to work correctly and not wear out prematurely.I’ve included some photos for your viewing pleasure of the blade on the original Johnny Apple Peeler I purchased.I may update this review again after I use the item.Update: December 29, 2021I've used it now to "process" five pounds of apples and it works great. Once I've loaded the apple, it takes about five seconds to peel, core, and slice the apple. Pretty impressive indeed. It seems to be well built and made of quality material and easy to clean after use. As mentioned by others, the suction works very well. Some have complained that once it is assembled it will not fit back into its original box and that is correct due to the hand crank on the shaft. However, if you remove the prongs (easy to do) on the other end of the shaft and then pull the entire shaft off the machine (also easy to do), you can then put the machine in the box, the prongs in the box, and then angle the shaft in the box with the crank handle still attached and it will all fit in the box nicely for you.Final Update: January 20, 2022I've peeled, sliced, and cored four three pound bags of apples in the past few months and the Johnny Apple Peeler works like a charm. One bag of Red Delicious and three bags of Honey Crisp all with great results. How fast it does this task is only limited to how fast you can load the next apple. Once the apple is in position and you start turning the crank, it only takes about five seconds for it to peel, slice, and core the entire apple.... much, much faster than any other method I've ever used up till now.I've made three apple pies and will be using it this coming fall to make my annual batch of apple sauce.Tip: When setting up to do a job and I have the peeler in place, the last thing I do before I start processing apples is put some paper towels under where the cutting, peeling, and coring is done. It just makes less mess and clean up a little easier.... But that's just me.

This apple peeler is of excellent quality! I had a cheaper look-a-like-apple peeler before and it was terribly finicky trying to get it to Core properly and get the blade lined up right, it ended up taking me more work than a hand peeler so I was hesitant to buy another one - but our apple trees make lots of apples. This one - perfect every time! If you have never used an apple peeler before there is still a bit of effort required in getting the apple on and off, but the strong suction base makes this much easier. Also the sharpness and acuarcy of the blades makes it SO EASY!!! Definitely worth paying a little extra for the Jonny Apple Peeler.

The peeler needs a smooth surface to sit on and you need to get used to having the apple correctly centred - it but after that it is a Brilliant peeler

middle to small sized apples may regularly crush into pieces, while big apples are peeled and cut nicely as wished ...
