Very impressed with this, both the sound quality and value. I’m running a heavily modded SL1200 and just added an Ortofon 2m Bronze to the mix, and wanted to get the most out of that cartridge. My deck is an older specimen that came with the now slightly scarce 6mm thick rubber mat. It does it’s job damping the platter ringing, almost too well, which might be why the 1200 has a reputation of sounding “darkâ€. It’s also a static magnet like nothing else.So I’ve been experimenting with mixing and matching stacks of mats with mixed results. Cork and rubber have their fans and detractors, so I was intrigued by the combination of materials here. Doubly so the de-coupling risers. I suppose the theory is here to allow the mat to damp the platter only, and isolate the disc from that assembly. Makes sense to me. Further reading can be found elsewhere. Unfortunately the few other mats working in this principle are in the $60 or so range. So the verdict? On its own, it doesn’t deaden the platter as much as I’d like, but YMMV; the 1200 is a special case (with an odd-sized platter to boot). So I stacked it on top of the stock mat and adjusted tone arm height to match.Definitely an audible difference. Mats really do matter. Listening carefully with headphones, the bass has tightened up with sharper hits in drum tracks. The 2m Bronze is said to be a bright sounding cart, and the mat softens that out a bit—not reducing clarity, but highs are not as grating. Biggest improvement was in vocal range—even after wearing in, I found this cart slightly sibilant, just enough to be irritating, and that’s been tamed. And best of all, and probably why you’re here: static is gone. I can take a disc off and not worry the entire cat will be magnetically sucked to it.So color me impressed. There’s a lot of things in the audiophile world that profess magical improvements for astronomical sums, and there’s little things that get overlooked, like, well, mats. Much appreciation to Hudson Hi-Fi for bringing this at a price us mortals can afford. excited to try pairing this with the acrylic mat next...

Nice, solid, fits perfectly. Does nothing to reduce static in my situation - package says controls static. Anyway I like the mat, it's quite nice!

My recent project was to build a component shelf and get my turntable working again. When I powered up my old Technics, I noticed a scary and considerable record wobble. After various experiments, I felt that the problem was likely the old rubber mat and not something internal...however, what the 'H' do I know? What I do know for sure is that I like interesting things. It's just who I am so I took a chance on using CORK for the replacement. I also liked the price, I'm not gonna lie. I didn't want to sink money into a new mat and find out that I misdiagnosed and had a repair job ahead of me.The good news is that luck was on my side as I have found that my records play really well with the new pad.I have not experienced any cork residue or static charge from the mat after a few nights of use - I have only had it for about a week now so time will tell if there are quality problems. It looks cool. It is smooth and flat. And most of all, it's different.I like it.

I have been using the felt mats for years on my record player and I noticed that no matter how much I cleaned my records I just kept hearing a constant static noise in them. I ended up finally looking into getting a replacement and saw that the cork mats are superior. I got this and tested it out and my records sound superbly amazing! They are very clear, the sound quality almost sounds upgraded compared to the felt mats, I don’t hear a lot of interference such as clicking or pops from them anymore, and yes there is no more static! I didn’t realize how much of a difference mats would have until I got the cork mat. I’m sure there are probably better ones out there for higher prices but, this was exactly what I needed and didn’t even but a dent in my wallet. Money well spent!

Bought a brand new AT-LP120X turntable and wanted an upgrade from the stock felt mat. I saw tons of folks online reccommending mats like this instead of rubber ones. Took a little whillllle to arrive but it is a high quallity product and worth the wait. If you're DJing I'd still say go for rubber but for the rest of us, this is one excellent purchase.

I purchased these cork turntable mats on the advice of an audio expert friend of mine. I was seeking to improve the sound quality of my turntables. Both of my turntables are considered entry level HIFI stereo equipment. My Sony turntable came with a rubber mat, while my Audio Technica was supplied with a felt mat. I wasn’t sure if the cork mat would be an improvement over the felt mat. I was wrong. In both cases the cork mats made an audible difference. Concerning the lower quality Sony the difference was surprising. It provided better separation and improved the sound stage. The Audio Technica’s improvement was less dramatic, but I could easily discern the difference. The cork make provided a better, wider, and warmer sound. Again, not as noticeable with the Audio Technica, but none the less an improvement. In all, per the cost, best turntable upgrade possible. Highly recommend.

This platter really does seem to make the sound warmer and bass is more evident. One thing that loses it point and it is mentioned numerous times so hopefully the developers listen; they need to trim a few mm of the circumference. You never fail to grab the mat when picking up a vinyl. Pretty annoying but a great mat for the price.
