Hands down my favorite purchase of the year for my garden! Very simple to install and to use. The automatic watering leaves time for other things. I actually purchased two more sets and plan on even more.

It took a lot of strength for me to get the lid off the “tank” but otherwise very clear instructions. And it waters while I’m away.

I ordered a small set and ended up buying two more larger sets. I use them in all four of my planter boxes. They have one zip tie on each olla to keep the lids on them but they really needs two. Ours keep slipping off and the ollas begin leaking. I think they might stretch in the heat? We cannot find the leak in one of our planter boxes, and so we are consistently overwatering that one and will until the end of the season. Also, between our second order and our third, the company (which seems to consist of one guy) changed the supplied tubing and the new tubing did not fit. He gave us a credit for the tubing but then we had to go out and buy more and different tubing ourselves.I hope these snafus are worked out because I like for small businesses to succeed. I hope we can resolve the leaking issue especially. I do appreciate the ability to use significantly less water!

In July of 2023 I bought a 4 cup set and an additional 2 cups from Thirsty Earth. It was going into my 5'x20' strawberry bed which was only half planted then. I used a 2-line feed with 4 strawberries around each cup. Initially, I had some difficulty dialing it in, but Eric was with me all the way, even video conferencing to help me trouble shoot why it wasn't working as intended. Soon, the problem was discovered: it was gravity. The bed wasn't level. Once fixed, the system worked like a charm. I have the 2.5 gallon bucket and I water 24 straberry plants, filling the bucket once per week. I add an organic liquid fertilizer like Clean Kelp to the water during the growing season. I pulled the ollas up for the winter because we get sporadic freezes, and I didn't want the ollas to crack from ice inside. I could see roots attached to the ollas where plants were sipping the water. I cleaned and dried them and stored them for the winter. I left the lines and the connectors on the ground so I'd know where each one should connect. I put clear plastic cups into the holes so I wouldn't have to redig the holes come spring. This spring, I soaked the olla cups then set them into the ground. Thanks to the plastic cup space holders, the holes didn't collapse, and it was easy to insert the olla cups. This time, hooking them up and getting them to work was a cinch. One hex nut was missing. I emailed Eric to buy one, and he immediately sent me one at no charge, and I paid only the shipping cost. Eric gives the most amazing customer support. He's there for you with a quick return and patience, no matter how many times you need him. And his system works like a charm. This spring I planted a full-grown strawberry into the same bed on the opposite end from the ollas. I put coco coir mat around it to keep the moisture in. I've been hand watering it nearly every day. Nevertheless, it collapses when the sun gets warm mid-morning to late afternoon. See the difference in the pictures which were taken at the same time. If you don't want to spend a lot of hours hand watering, then this is the best solution. Watering from the top, even if automatic, is still not the same as the deep, on-demand watering the plants get with the ollas. And the Thirsty Earth olla system is the only one that went a step further and solved the issue of filling the ollas. Bravo Eric!
