Bought this for my sister who is newer to knitting. She liked it better than other knitting books she has because it has modern patterns that she would feel comfortable wearing.

I like the variety of projects in this book. I also like that most of the projects are straight forward and not too involved. Sometimes I need a fun project to keep me entertained between bigger, more difficult endeavors. Plus these items are the right amount of investment (both time, skill level and amount of wool needed) for hand-made gifts. I'd recommend to knitters of all skill levels. It's a good all-around resource for your knitting shelf.

Tanis Gray has edited a nice book of cozy knits that include knitting patterns by many designers. The book is divided up into sections called Heartfelt Hats, Warm and Wonderful Mittens, Cuddly Cowls and Scarves, Snuggly Sweaters, Shawls and Shrugs, and Quick and Clever Gifts.I like the book but, overall, felt that there were not enough patterns that I wanted to knit in order to warrant giving it five stars. Additionally, all the patterns are charted and none of them are written out. I am not a chart person and that makes the book more difficult for me to use. Some of the patterns that I liked a lot include Raindrops and Rivulets, a cabled and lace hat designed by Faina Goberstein. It has a small rib with a cabled body. The Diamond Jubilee Slip-Stitch Hat, also designed by Goberstein, is in two colors and makes a lovely geometric pattern. There is a variegated green hat called I-Cord, Can You, designed by Linda Medina, that looks very warm and cozy. The Silver Plates cloche is a lace and cable knit hat that would be nice for winter wear. The Brioche du Jour Ribbed Scarf is bright in orange and purple, a natural show piece designed by Nancy Marchant. I love to knit cowls and especially like the Tiptoe Through the Tulips Lace Cowl by Angela Hahn. The Weekend Away Lace Gaiter is actually a cowl and is knit with decreases and increases and stockinette stitch. The Art Deco Faux Cables Scarf is cute, designed by Angela Tong. It is a mixture of knits and purls but looks more adventurous than that. The Victorian Lacy Lace-Border Shawl is knit in a chunky yarn with size 11 needles. It is worked from the outside in and the designer is Hilary Smith Callis. I like the Rockabye Baby Wavy Lace Blanket designed by Tanis Gray. It is perfect for a newborn. The Climbing Vines Cabled Leg Warmers are nice for keeping calves and ankles warm on cold days. They are very fashionable as well. The designer is Debbie O'Neill. For a nice present, try the Tilt-a-Whirl Lace and Garter Afghan. It looks difficult to knit but is actually much easier than it appears. It can be sized up or down and was designed by Therese Chynoweth. You Are My Sunshine is an adorable cabled baby sweater that is sized from six to eighteen months and designed by Robin Melanson.Overall, I was not impressed with the sweaters or shawlettes. I also don't like working solely from charts. Other than these two minor criticisms, the book is quite nice.

The patterns are nice, the mittens are HUGE, and bulky. I was looking for something a little more along the lines of Mobius knitting type cowls and finer fitting scarves and caplets. This would be good for someone starting winter small projects. Nicely written and patterns are complete.

Fun book. Great quick ideas for all level knitters including beginners. Nice to give as a gift. Bought it for myself.

I am already working on some of the patterns from this very recently published collection. I purchased this book for several of my knitting friends and we are all enjoying working on projects and comparing our results.

I really bought it for one pattern but turns out it's a really good book of patterns. Usually it's one pattern and the rest are rather boring, but this might have three patterns I wouldn't use and the rest very practical and good
