A robust tool. I use it to tune-up the feeding lips of my pistol's magazine, as this pliers are perfect for this purpose.

If it opened a little wider I could squeeze links along their long direction to close them, but it doesn't open quite wide enough for my chandelier chain. I think this is just meant to open and close links in the short direction, and for that it's good. It just can't close links that have been pulled apart, like I accidentally did before I got this tool and was just using regular pliers. These also don't scratch the links like the pliers I attempted to use. I think if they opened wider they'd be perfect, but they work as intended and I recommend them if you ever have to adjust a chain.

I had some light fixtures that needed adjusting, and this tool worked perfectly for my needs. I was able to easily adjust the length of the chain & open/close the rings without damage. It's a specific tool for a specific job, and having the right tools can make all the difference! This one is made well & priced well!

If you hang a lot of lights suspended by chains, you absolutely must have these pliers. They make your life so much easier than the old way of managing two sets of pliers, one is each hand. If you use these pliers for their intended purpose, then they will last a long time. Be warned that the jaws are NOT case hardened and attempting to open up chain that is not made of aluminum (steel) may permanently damage them. The manufacturer was very honest and mentioned that the metal they are made from is iron. Iron is commonly used in making weights because it is very heavy and inexpensive to forge. Iron is strong but it is not unbreakable and can fracture if struck with a hammer or dropped on a hard surface.

Our massive three-light chandelier (over a pool table) recently broke due to the failure of one of the two suspension rods. Rather than try to replace it (16 years old), my handy spouse opted to remove the rods and replace with a matching dark bronze chain. It was important that he could align the chains properly so that the light didn't veer to one side or the other. I saw these pliers and ordered them in advance of the work. They were exactly the right tool for the right job. Highly recommend.

I've got hundreds of tools in my garage, and never knew that chain pliers existed. And what a game changer these are. These Creative Hobbies chain pliers are made ONLY for link chain that has links that are not welded/soldered shut. They work great on chandelier chain and other decorative chains that you previously had to use two sets of pliers to manipulate. They are HEAVY duty, made of some form of chromed iron, but move as smoothly as high end tools.Comfortable in my hands, easy to spread and compress chain, and at $15, a no brainer for the time it saves on a project. Five stars from me.
