I have used this kind of tool to shape styrofoam for years. I somehow lost my old one and replaced it with this. My old one worked on both forward and backwards strokes which was nice. This one sometimes will only shave going 1 direction but if you just go with it, it does a terrific job. Does both detailed work and big area work. Would recommend and buy again.

I’ve used this for shaping foam. It does do the job. Were I to do this over again I would have bought one with a longer handle. That being said I have no qualms about recommending this product. Cheers!

I had seen people using these in pottery for foot trimming, and decided to give it a go. Maybe I haven't found the right clay consistency or method, but it just doesn't seem to do much, and is very hard to clean.
