I got this spring to replace one on my Craftsman T1600 mower. The problem was that when I engaged the mower deck, the pulley arms that put tension on the deck drive belt moved too far and were grinding against each other. Apparently this little spring is the only thing stopping that from happening. I put the new spring in and it keeps those arms in check.
