Today, Phosphor Bronze is played throughout the world and considered to be the standard in acoustic strings, thanks to its beautiful sonic balance and tonal warmth. Our pioneering Phosphor Bronze acoustic guitar strings are precision wound with phosphor bronze wrap wire over a high-carbon steel core, providing tonal versatility suitable for all acoustic styles and musical genres. This 10-27 High Strung/Nashville set is designed for "High Strung" or "Nashville" tuning methods, to offer a "jangly" 12-string effect when recording, layering, or double-tracking guitars.

First time buying a set for Nashville high strung, and I was surprised that they chose a 9 gauge for the G string. I was terrified it would snap. Next time, I'll probably just put my own set together, because having that small of a string in the 3rd string position feels and sounds anemic, not to mention the fact that you have to use ultra light touch to avoid that one going sharp.Great string brand, great packaging, superb tone.

Phosphor bronze EJ's are classic go-to budget strings. I love their sound right out of the package. I used to work at a world-renowned instrument shop and we'd send a pack of EJ's home with every new acoustic purchase, can't go wrong. Their tone doesn't hold up as long and they don't hold up to abuse as well as my go-to set that I use on my main instrument, but I always recommend these for folks on a budget or who don't really know what they're looking for. That said, for Nashville tuning you're largely dealing with unwound strings (only one string is wound phosphor bronze). The difference compared to higher end strings is far less significant. Also, you're string up for Nashville so you're either 1.) Gearing up for a recording session or 2.) trying to find something interesting to do with a spare guitar. For either use these are 100% the set to go with.If you're looking at these reviews to figure out whether you want to try Nashville tuning on your second guitar - yes you do! It's a neat sound and fun to play around with, can add an interesting depth to your recordings, and I even have a guy in our band playing one on a few tunes at a show this Friday. It's worth a couple of bucks to try it out.

I've always liked D'Addario strings and these are as good as all the other sets I've used. Phospher Bronze is not quite as bright sounding which works well with Nashville stringing, stopping the sound being too trebly. Lower cost D'Addarios don't stay bright as long as their premium range strings, but they are cheap enough to replace often. My first go at trying Nashville stringing, although I'd known about it for years. Works pretty well for recording. You get a nice clear rhythm sound with none of the 'boom' you get when strung conventionally. Doubling with a regular strung acoustic does give a 12 string sound with the benefit that you can balance the two better. One thing to note. If you're planning on trying it, you will have to either replace the top nut or use the old baking powder and superglue trick to narrow (and possibly raise) the low E to G nut slots. It's also likely that the intonation will be slightly out higher up the neck unless you fiddle with the bridge saddle. For 'cowboy chord' positions, it's close enough.
