Well made aluminum case. I'm using this one to build a custom dummy load box for guitar amps. The fit and finish is very good, and the measurements on the listing are accurate.

The outside and inside of the box are well-formed and clean. Appears to be die-cast, not sand cast. The box is much lighter than a zinc box would be, so the aluminum seems reasonably pure. The screws that hold the bottom plate are #6-32 threads, not metric. The holes for these screws are pre-tapped with threads, and the screws sit flush with the bottom of the box when tightened (the counter-sink in the bottom plate is just right.)The outside dimensions of the box (measured at the bottom, not the top surface) is 4.725" x 3.705" x 1.340" - so the advertised size is correct. If you remove the bottom plate, the top is 1.170" tall. The outside of the box does not show any sanding marks or any places that may have been finished after the casting came out of the mold (except for tapping the screw holes in the top). The aluminum surface looks grainy but smooth. It has not been jitterbugged, buffed, or sanded. The top edges are not rounded over like a Bud box, they are crisp and sharp, just like the Hammond boxes. This DaierTek 1590BB box is a much cleaner casting than any Bud box I own, and has better fit-and-finish than the Hammond boxes I have. If you want a heavy 100%-zinc box, this is not your thing. If you just want an awesome box to build a guitar pedal or any electronics project, this is the right box and a great price.

Enclosure seems good! I’m gonna build a bass over drive pedal and stick it in this box. Then I’m gonna turn the knobs all the way up and all the lames are gonna be mad.

I used the 1590BB as an enclosure and heatsink for ignition system components. The aluminum construction made it easy to drill into and modify while giving good thermal and electric conductivity. Only thing that could be improved is adding an o-ring gasket to the lid. If you need aluminum project boxes, these are hard to beat for the price.

It’s functionally the same as Bud cast metal boxes I’ve used to build stuff for the last 40 years. Unfortunately my local supplier doesn’t carry a size appropriate for the project. This has a pair of USB charging bucks, a fuse holder and switch installed since the ports are always on, along with a captive power cable. It’s been powder coated in matte black.
