This is an old-school seal that works great if your hose bib uses a nut and seal at the valve stem.If the faucet does not drip when shut off, but leaks when you open the valve; leaking water back along the valve stem, then this rope seal may provide an easy fix instead of going through the pain and expense of swapping out the hose bib itself.I was able to add three wraps of this seal without shutting off the water to the house by simply removing the valve knob and the cap nut underneath, and then wrapping three turns of the new seal onto the valve stem and cutting off the excess.Then you can gently push the seal rope up into the recess between the valve stem and the hose bib body (not necessary to push it all the way int; just try to gently move the seal up into that area a bit) and replace the cap nut... Snugging down the cap nut without tightening it too much.Then replace the valve handle and test for leaks.

So far superior to the old standards we used to use! Just takes a few turns of the packing nut to make a leak-free shaft seal, and the operation of the valve is nearly frictionless.

This is a very good material for re-packing leaky water valve stems. My only complaint is it seems a bit pricey for the amount you get in the package. I was able to fix one leak valve stem but there wasn't enough left for the 2nd valve.

I am a DIY'er that tries to tackle simple things around the house. Plumbing repairs always make me nervous. After turning off the shut off valve to replace a faucet cartridge for example, the repair goes fine but the old shut off valve leaks when turned back on! This product literally saves the day. The recommended repair is to tighten the packing nut 1/4 turn but with older valves the washer inside is no longer flexible enough to reseal the leak. Using this tape solves the issue. 1) close shut off valve 2) remove handle 3) remove packing nut 4) wrap 2 turns of rope clockwise around valve stem 5) tighten nut and replace the handle.No more leaks.

30 yr valve was leaking…just had to turn off water, open up the top cap and found that the packing disintegrated! Wrapped two turns of this new packing and tightened it down. Worked like a charm! Mark 😀

This was too big for my hose bib stem packing. Instead, Teflon thread tape wrapped around the stem did the trick. No leak.

This product saved my life! I have old cast iron heaters in my home with old-school valves. One day, the heater started spraying right out of the valve nut. It actually flooded the room by the time I was able to shut down the boiler and water supply. I removed the nut and the old packing had completely disintegrated and disappeared. With no experience on how to pack a nut, I used this product. It was success on my first attempt. Phew! I saved a $$ service call! This product must be very good if an inexperienced person like me could get success on first attempt! 🤣 I highly recommend it!

I did not like the time it took to get i needed it quick as my tap was leaking and needed this product to seal it . i finally got it 3 weeks later so much for prime quick delivery i had to buy somewhere else product looks good ,
