For providing a good quality, true child-size or extra small adult castanet (925), Danmar deserves credit. This size option is unavailable in fibra. However, the edge finish is rough, (finish with fine sand paper), and the sound is clacky, not musical. So this is definitely a starter castanet. I use mine as a "beater" pair for practice. I do really appreciate the extra small (925) size.

Hi everybody....my wife has several pairs of castanets, and for girls specially, this is the best she has seen, the size color and material are perfect, eventhe string quality and color to wrap it around your fingers is excellent. we strongly recommend this product, you will love it. These arrived with a small chip on the bottom center of each castanet. I assumed it must be from the casting since they are made of resin. After two weeks of practicing, the right castanet is chipping all around the outside edge; the left castanet moderately so. I emailed the supplier (8th Street Music) who told me percussion cannot be returned once used and sent me the manufacturer's phone number. I phoned that number (Danmar, I assume) yesterday and left a message. Have not yet had a response. Will note it here when I hear from them.The castanets sound good, but how far will they chip?UPDATE: This was Danmar's reply: "Hello Mrs. Strickland. we have been selling the #925 castanets for over 25 years. They cannot be defective since the all come from the same mold. We have never heard of them chipping. can you email a picture? Thanks, Danielle"So I emailed them 4 photos of the chipped castanets. Their next email reply was that their technician suggested I sandpaper the edges! This is a poor example of the manufacturer standing behind their product.I WOULD NOT ORDER ANY PRODUCT FROM DANMAR PERCUSSION.

The castanets work well, but I didn't realize how much smaller they were going to be. Otherwise, they were OK.
