This vent damper seems to have a good build quality, nice metal and aluminum louvers, except the design is pretty miserable and is NOT air tight. HUGE quarter inch to 3/8ths gaps on all sides of the vent so even when its shut, air leaks through and bugs can still get in. The louvers also don't open and shut very well, I understand they made them light so a fan will open them, but they're not heavy enough to shut all the way, they're always open unless you add weight to them as I had to do. I spent a ton of time trying to adjust the hinges to reduce friction so they would close better, but not much worked. I ended up trying to seal the cracks with some foam, but you can't add too much to it'll bind on the hinges.I needed a very specific size so there weren't many options to choose from, otherwise I'd say find another option if you need an air tight seal.

The damper does not work with low pressure fans as it is too heavy to open.
