I use this product in a variety hunting scenarios, primarily ducks, deer and varmints where slight wind detection can make or break a hunt. It’s essentially a vape with no smell that you squeeze a bulb to blow smoke into the air which then allows detection of the slightest wind currents. Especially useful for settling arguments over “which way the wind is blowing,†in our duck blind—despite what it is “supposed to be†due to inaccurate weather people or Apps. It is also better than powder versions that fall quickly because you can see how the wind changes several yards away. If you are freaky aware of wind and how important it really is in hunting, you will like this gadget—a lot. It’s superior to anything in the marketplace.

I was extremely excited to get this product, I use a lot of dead down wind products and this seem like a great concept. Well I’ve never been so let down by a product ever. If I hadn’t thrown the box away I would be demanding my money back. It barely puffs smoke in my house let alone out in the field. It’s so weak you can barely see the smoke when it does work, which is rarely. Super not stoked about this product. The videos show a huge puff of vape you can easily see, not the case with mine. Barely see it in the house. Stick to the basics for wind detection because this thing is a bust. I don’t write reviews, but after giving this product to many opportunities to work, I’m over it. Garbage at best. The only reason I gave it 1 star is because it’s a good idea, just doesn’t deliver.

The cartridges are used in the Dead Down Wind Scout, a novel way to track wind direction while hunting. There are lots of products that will track a breeze, but this will identify an air current that you may not even realize is there!

Better than powder. Could smoke a little more but works well. Easy to check wind direction. Just squeeze slowly. May not smoke on the 1st squeeze but just squeeze again slowly. Would have gave 5 stars if it smoked a little more.

I'd be better off with just blowing from a vaping stick. This device puffs out a little bit of smoke, which is difficult to see. I bought this to find air leaks in my house. It's not great for that purpose.

This was a replacement for one that didn’t work. I’m glad I persevered as it works great and is perfect for teaching canine scent work

You have to push so hard on the device just to get a faint puff of vapor which disappears quickly. I’ll stick with a small puffer full of baby powder which is visibly continuous for a good amount of time.
