I am often a one man band on shoots and desperately needed a set it and forget it solution. This is that option, not to mention one of the best sounding mics I have ever owned! Will be buying more of these!

Additionally, I loved that they come with everything you need to get started, including batteries, cables, an SD card, and a microphone. It is also very portable, so you can take it anywhere. The device is well-made, has nice, non-rattling clicky buttons, and can be controlled from up to 250 feet away. Additionally, it offers excellent audio quality and a battery life of almost 30 hours.

I just love this microphone. Not only is it small and lightweight, but the sound quality both at 24 and 32 bit float recording is really good. Love the ease of use. It works flawlessly with the Sidus Audio app that comes from Deity. You have the ability to cut the lower and higher frequencies of your audio, helping avoid distortion and the OLED screen is very easy to read and understand. I found myself setting it all up without reading the manual.Love the fact that you can plug in your headphones to spot monitor. The killer feature is the ability to give it timecode from the App, but also sync it with Deity's TC-1 timecode generator which is another device costing $200. I seriously recommend you get it along with this PR-2 recorder. Both sync wirelessly by bluetooth to the app without fail. Depending on your camera and the cable you need, you then plug the TC-1 into the camera, giving it the same timecode as this microphone is receiving. I used this on a Sony FX-3 and because it's a Sony, I had to get an additional cable that allows it to send timecode directly through the cameras multi port. Battery life is 26-28 hours on fresh Lithium AA batteries (it comes with a set of Deity's own lithium AAs)Filming is so much easier with audio and video matching timecodes. I know that means you spending a couple of hundred more, but trust me, it's worth it and much cheaper than rival devices that arguably just aren't as good or as easy to use as this one. I just love it. The TC-1 and PR-2 are essential kit for me now, when I'm doing sit down interviews for a documentary. Get them, you won't be disappointed.

If you don't know Deity is leading with their micing solutions for main stream media. A lot of huge film studios and smaller established film makers use their mic due to the superb sound quality that you get and this is no different. This is NOT your standard lavalier mic that you find for $5. Yes, the recorder offer great options with time code option 32 bit float so your recording are safe with some low end or peaking on the track, just know that the lav is half the price with this system. I absolutely love deity product, real, great warm sound from the mic that you can't get from the cheaper brands that only comes from those leading in the audio industry. With the app allowing for soooo many mics, stereo and mono options, long battery life, low cut filter, they pack so much actual performance in these mics you wont be able to revert back to what you were using before. Great kit here.

This recorder has great sound quality. And easy to use. And is easy to transfer the data to usb. This recorder is a lot of fun. Also can be helpful in phone calls that you need to record.

When I started trying this out, I quickly discovered - it was way overkill for my purposes. I needed a GOOD voice recorder, that supported an external mic. This certainly handles that use case - but it does so much more. Extraordinarily high audio quality recording, and advanced features like time codes (which I don't need ... yet ... but might encourage me to grow my knowledge and skills a bit).

I didn't know what to expect from a such a sophisticated pocket Audio recorder for film makers and journalists. At first, I was confused and couldn't find any manual in the box. Little did I realize they had the instructions and nice little tutorial video right on the product page. So here's a tip: save the overview image from the product pictures and print it off. Don't waist your time figuring out in your own, unless you own the previous model. Once I got it up and running after watching the tutorial, I was amazed. The lapel mic sounds crystal clear and the features on this device are top notch. It supports both 24-bit and 32-bit float recording formats. It also comes with a 32gb micro sd card, USB-C to USB-A adapter, dual USB-C cable, recorder belt buckle clip, and includes 2 Deity AA batteries. Another feature I like is it's compatibility with the Sidus Audio App, bluetooth connectivity, and the ability to synchronize timecode wirelessly. There are many other features like auto gain, low cut, limiter, headphone out for monitoring, and mono/stereo track settings. I never owned a device like this for video production, but I can see now I was missing out. Pro-grade quality for sure, long battery life, essential features, and superb sound quality. 5 Out of 5 Stars!

Once it needs a firmware update, it's almost useless. The instuctions in the manual don't do a good job of explaining how to update this item.

Design and BuildI really appreciate how compact and lightweight the Deity PR-2 Pocket Recorder is, which makes it easy to carry and use on the go. The plastic construction keeps it light, but I do have slight concerns about the durability of the belt clip over time. The layout is straightforward, and the locking 3.5mm stereo mic/line input is secure, which is a nice touch for ensuring stable connections during recording.Audio QualityThe audio quality has exceeded my expectations. With both 24-bit and 32-bit float recording options, I can capture clear audio without worrying about distortion or clipping, even in unpredictable environments. The 32-bit float format is especially useful for dynamic audio recording, making it reliable for various projects.Timecode and Remote ControlI’ve found the wireless timecode syncing with Deity's TC-1 generator boxes incredibly helpful. It ensures my recordings stay perfectly in sync, which is essential for professional use. The Sidus Audio app also allows for remote control, and I’ve enjoyed being able to adjust settings from up to 250 feet away, saving me time and effort during shoots.Battery Life and Power OptionsThe battery life has been impressive, lasting nearly 30 hours on just two AA batteries. This has been great for long sessions without needing to stop and replace batteries. I also like the USB-C output, which lets me use it as an audio interface when I want to record directly to my computer.AccessoriesThe included accessories are really useful. It comes with a belt-clip holster, a Deity W.Lav Pro microphone, a 32GB microSDHC card, a USB-C coiled cable, and a USB-C to USB 3 adapter. The kit was ready to use right out of the box, which saved me from needing to buy additional gear.PerformanceThe PR-2 has been reliable and easy to use. I’ve appreciated the headphone output for live monitoring, and the secure mic input keeps everything steady during recording. The only drawback for me is the lack of a rechargeable battery, but the long battery life makes up for it. My only other concern is the belt clip, which feels like it might not hold up with heavy use.Value for MoneyFor the price, this recorder is well worth it. The combination of features, like 32-bit float recording and timecode syncing, along with its ease of use, make it a great investment. If you’re looking for a versatile and dependable recorder, I’d definitely recommend it. The belt clip could be improved, but overall, this device offers fantastic value.

I am not a pro videographer but I do like to experiment with making videos with my DSLR and old camcorder. I didn't have a separate way to record audio and that always showed in my videos with muffled or hard to hear speech. I was able to setup this device easily and make a few test videos using the included microphone. The difference in sound quality was fantastic compared to using the mic on my old camcorder. I also really liked that they include everything you need to get started like batteries, cables, SD card and a mic. It is also small and easily portable so you can easily take it anywhere. I am now keeping it in my camera bag so that I have it with me wherever I take my camera. If I want to record some speech I definitely use it. Equipment can't make someone a professional or expert but it sure helps make the videos better. I am only using it as a hobby device but given my experience with it I am pretty sure that more serious videographers will find the device useful as well. The device has excellent build quality with nice clicky buttons that don't rattle and this makes me think it will last a long time and stand up to daily use for anyone who uses it on a regular basis.
