Wow! Great little practice mute. It performed really nicely. There’s minimal transposition of your pitch, but using a practice mute is more for practicing fingers than tone. Not only does it play really nicely, but it’s also great to look at. Definitely beats the old stone lined mutes! Great buy!

Fits perfectly inside a Willson or Besson bell, and won't take up room in your gig bag or case! As with a lot of mutes, it gets a little stuffy in the low-to-pedal register, but it is the most free-blowing out of any that I have tried. Definitely makes it easy to practice in an apartment or hotel setting!

This mute does its job of making you quiet enough that you won't annoy people. I'm a college student who doesn't always want to haul my euphonium to a practice room, and a mute was a must for playing in the dorm. That being said, intonation with this mute in is very inconsistent across the range of the instrument. No matter what you do with your tuning slides, certain notes, especially on the lower end, will always sound sour. This is somewhat true with every mute, unfortunately. The back pressure from this mute is minimal, but still enough to cause discomfort if you play for a long time. If you've ever used headphones to play along with external audio, I don't recommend doing it with the mute in, it's a very uncomfortable experience.In terms of feel and appearance, the mute looks fantastic, but you'll never be able to justify its cost to someone who doesn't play euphonium. It is indeed extremely lightweight and fits completely in the bell. I frequently forget it's in the instrument until I start playing. The portability is what, for me, makes this mute a worthy purchase, especially for college euphonium players.

This mute brings my euphonium to nearly silent, but is very light in weight. For practicing without bothering the family in the house and the neighbors, it is excellent. It does seem to impact the tuning some, and there is some back-pressure that sometimes impacts the lip buzz qualities, but for practice on rhythms, fingerings, music familiarity, etc. it is terrific. I subtracted the one star only because of these minor issues with the impact on intonation and vibrational aspect of the lips. I have the "silent brass" system from a competitor, but it is heavy, makes the instrument very top-heavy, and needs batteries, headphones, etc.; this mute is superior to that in EVERY way. My euphonium can fit into its case with this mute in place in the bell.

I can at last practice without worrying about the neighbours. I was warned it takes more puff but it has its benefits as in flexing the diaphragm.It was delivered in about 3 days and I was expecting it to be at least a week.
