Great, versatile tool. It is heavy as several other people have noted. I have just used the trimmer head and am very pleased with how it mows down weeds, small limbs and tall grass. I am recovering from knee replacement surgery and am using the tool to catch up on all the tasks that I couldn't attend to while recovering. It is excellent to use around desired plants, much more able to control than say using a weed wacker. The blades are very sharp and cut through branches with very little pressure. It took a couple of hours to charge the battery the first time out of the box, but the charge lasted longer than I did and the second time charging the battery was much faster.

The extension pole for this makes it much easier for my husband to trim around our three large trees. Yes it's a little heavy but he is 68 and can handle it without trouble

Great quality product. Battery life surprised me, lasted longer than I did. Fast charge. My only complaint is the weight of saw and hedge trimmer, a little on the heavy side especially when using maximum extension. Would highly recommend this pair of tools. Rob

The pole saw is excellent. Looked intimidatingly long with the extension, but I was able to cut branches 12+ feet above ground without standing underneath. I was able to maneuver the pole saw. Surprising. I am almost a super senior and was never considered strong in my youth. Quick, athletic with excellent eye hand coordination but only average strength. If I can handle the pole saw ...I wanted with pole saw and the trimmer came with it. I use the hedge trimmer without the extension. I was able to trim the top of a 9 foot hedge. The trimmer is noisy compared with my EGO trimmer (standard single piece unit). Recommend ear plugs. The DeWalt trimmer is versatile -- cuts well and has reach. The EGO trimmer is lighter, more maneuverable and shapes hedges well, but has no reach. I have both. A luxury. If I had to choose one, it would be the DeWalt.Less is more. The DeWalt batteries and chargers are compact. I now have two. I gave my EGO chainsaw to a friend. I did not have the space for two huge EGO (all puns intended) chargers.

Before purchasing the combo hedge trimmer and saw unit, I posted a question. Perhaps, I was not specific enough. I asked if pole to pole extension was possible on hedge trimmer for maximum height. Five people including the manufacturer answered yes. Apparently, I should have asked if you could get the full 15' with pole pole for the hedge trimmer. Perhaps, then I would have gotten the correct answer. NO. You can not get 15' out of hedge trimmer, because one of the three foot poles is part of the pole saw and even if you could pull it out of the saw, you can't attach it because there would be No coupling. Now, I have a decision to make. Send it back or have to work off a ladder to reach the top of my hedges. The whole point of buying this unit was not to have to work off a ladder. Disappointed. I would be willing to buy another 3' pole extension with the couplings, but they don't sell one. Yes, I know it's heavy, but it can't be worse than the heavy greenworks hedge trimmer I have rigged up to two 6' fiberglass poles, for a 12' length, excluding my reach. That I have to Velcro strap the thing on and constantly running and then lift it up 12' in the air with no way to stop the blades. INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS I realize. Hence, why I bought this thing. Unfortunately, it is not long enough to reach the top of my 14' tall shrubs and need them to be that tall for privacy. Stanley black and decker, who must own DeWalt, says there is no extension pole to buy. I don't believe there is not a part number for the middle pole as it has plastic couplings and could get broken. There should be a replacement part number for that part. Or, do they expect you to buy a whole new uni, just because the middle pole got damaged? If so, that is ridiculous. Not too happy. Five miss answered replies got me to buy this. I thought my question was specific, but apparently not specific enough.

I don't write a lot of reviews but i had to mention while clearing for fire season -- this tool is wonderful. Have used another type in the past that fell apart after a week... this dewalt works way better! Two weeks in and still going strong. Interchanging to the hedger is great and easy as well as is using the extensions. Not sure why folks complain at all about this one. And obviously we dont necessarily use on huge trunks as it is not a gas chain saw for your typical pro -- but we have been cutting pepper tree, sumac, oak and more with great speed and ease. Love it for harder to reach places and can do so without putting my older wobbly body on a scary ladder. ;-)) Feel very safe using it as well. Ordered new chain as a just in case. At 12 bucks each -- no big deal. And ordered extra batteries -- which probably was not even necessary! But heck i can use those same batteries with my Dewalt blower which i really like as well. No more cords! Good luck! C

I love this product. Looks very well made and works great so far. I was easily able to cut through larger higher branches from ground instead of up a ladder giving me more flexibility and comfort. So far the battery and saw are strong enough to comfortably cut through the woody material I have to work with around my house. I completed a large hedge with much greater ease and with a single charge. The battery died right at the end.
