Only used the red wire, 5 wraps around a lead, secured the black spark plug washer type wire out of the way and it is working like a champ. So far it has been reliable and has a quick response time.The instructions were ambiguous about whether you need to use both red and black wires, or whether it's an either/or. To re-iterate, I only used the red wire, they are not both needed for functionality, so you can choose based on your installation needs.

Really, my only complaint is the sensor wire that wraps around the spark plug ignition wire, (unlike my last unit ) doesn't have enough integrity to stay on the wire by itself. (must use the supplied zip ties). Way more difficult than it should have been. Other than that, this unit works fine.

Bought this to replace the TinyTac that was on my Vanguard 35HP MudBuddy. Perfect replacement and same size as factory tach. Highly recommend.
