I use this relay to operate a sump pump in a shallow well. I needed to go solid state because I have 20+ cut ins and cut outs per hour, which translates to 175K a year: I needed reliability. The on time is less than 10 seconds, and my pump is drawing the maximum rating for this relay (as per their instructions on derating the relay's 40A rating because of inductive loads (see instructions in the product illustrations). The heat sink of the relay never even gets warm, which is perfect for me. If it's not getting hot, then it will let a long time. The instructions are not very clear regarding their recommendation for a varistor for when using inductive loads (like I am) had no information. I perusing varistors come in different ratings, so it would be nicer to have a guideline to assist us in protecting this device. The price was excellent, and it went up s free bucks since I purchased it just before Christmas (it's January 30th now). I want to purchase a backup one: maybe I can get a coupon code from them. ðŸ˜I have no other product to compare it with, but I've been using this one for about a month which means turning on and off about 15,000 times already without a single hitch. If they had clearer instructions and more information on the varistors, I'd give them 5 stars. Consider these 4 stars a 4.5 star rating.
