We had our 6 month old Cavapoo spayed last week, and not surprisingly, she hated the cone of shame. It made it hard for her to eat and maneuver. Our vet had recommended getting a body suit for her, so we ordered this one from Amazon. The material is nice and soft, like a T-shirt, and there is a little extra padding on the belly over where her incision is. It has a little bit of stretch to the material, but not so much that it gets stretched out. The leg holes and the neck hole have extra material sewn around the holes, and it is soft and hasn't rubbed or caused any irritation in those areas. The snaps on the back of it work well. Best of all though, is that she can go outside and pee and poop without having to take it off. With some of the other bodysuits we looked at, you had to roll up the back of it when you let your dog out. You have to do absolutely nothing with this bodysuit. Just let your dog go out as usual. She has been wearing it for 4 days and I have seen no staining from her going potty. I let it air dry, so can't speak to if it shrinks in the dryer, but it washes well. The medium fit my 12 lb Cavapoo well. It wasn't too tight, and fit her well length-wise. She didn't like it at first, and rolled around on the ground trying to get it off, but after that she hasn't even seemed to notice that she has it on. She kept trying to lick her incision when we took the cone of shame off to feed her, but this suit completely covers her incision so she has not been able to get to it. And it is really cute too. I would highly recommend. Works wells for my female dog.

I didn't realize there weren't any reviews for this yet! I have to say I am so happy I got this. My 7 yr. old husky shepherd mix (90+ lbs.) somehow punctured his inner right hip/lower abdomen area (I think on a protruding lower broken branch while playing with his baby sister). I had him in a cone to stop the licking (thankfully the wound was already healing nicely and didn't need stitches) but he was miserable for the two days he had to wear the cone. He had difficulty eating or drinking, and frankly I was also worried not only about baby sister licking his wound, but also her stepping on it when they wrestled (though they did that a lot less with the cone on, which is another challenge when you want to tire a puppy out!). This was the only suit I could find that was a cotton material (like a thin tshirt) and had some coverage of the legs (really, more like stirrups around the hips) that also didn't require me to have to unvelcro him every time he went out (too much to worry about with a potty training puppy in tow, and they play around the yard a lot so bathroom breaks aren't as easy to catch). I got him the 5xl, the largest size available, and it fits him well. It is a little loose around the neck, arm and leg holes, but lengthwise fits him great. Also, I think he does have a relatively deep chest, so the chest part fits fairly snugly. He was SO thankful to get the cone off, he doesn't seem to mind the lightweight shirt one bit (besides occasional shaking, I think just because he feels something on his back). One note of wisdom in retrospect, I wish I had cut the "male" hole a little smaller. The stitched circle is pretty big, but because I couldn't really get him to try it on and tailor it, I wasn't exactly sure how it would fit his anatomy, so I just cut the circle where the guide stitching was. The suit serves its function really well, since his would is right inside that leg crevice, and other suits cut off right at the line. He does try to lick, but he still has to manuever around the fabric a bit. If it were a more serious wound or stitching, I might not feel as comfortable the way it is. However, since preventing incessant licking is the goal, this suit has worked great. (If I cut the hole smaller, I would say it was PERFECT). I have also already seen many times it has protected rambunctious baby sister (3 mo. old, ~15 lbs) from stepping on or clawing on the wound directly. To get it on, I just stuck his front two paws into the arm holes and connected the zipper on top to hold it in place. They I took each leg and guided it through each leg hole, and finished zipping. I think I gave him a bone to chew so he was distracted enough to let me grab his legs (he doesn't normally like, but he has been surprisingly compliant with this injury as well!).The suit wax $22ish with an extra 10% off, so I def. was willing to take a chance on trying it, and am so glad I did. (BTW the cone cost more!)I would definitely buy this again if he ever needs a recovery suit (even if the would is in a different spot, as long as it's still covered). Yes, he can go pee and poop without getting the suit soiled at all. I do find myself adjusting it a few times throughout the day but pulling the whole thing forwards (maybe because the neck hole is a little big). A more snug suit might not need that; I was concerned about fit since his torso is quite long.*edited - I actually ordered the 4xl, trying to go for a much more snug fit, as he was still manuevering around the leg hole to lick. 4xl is a very good fit for him. The leg holes are more fitted.

My one year old female Cavalier King Charles fits nice and snug in a size large. She keeps it on full time to heal from her spay surgery. Able to do her outside business just fine. It took her a minute to be comfortable with having something around her legs but she’s doing great! I love the buttons on the top, it made for an easy try on ❤️🐶 2/28/2025

This was purchased for our small, female dog (12 lbs) following surgery that resulted in 2 long incisions: along the rib cage and lower torso). The small size fit ok. It was a bit snug (It did not shrink when washed). I liked the design for the back end. It did allow for most urinating and defecating to happen without incident, although there were a few times when the elastic edging was soiled. To prevent this, we simply left the hind legs out of the garment when our dog was going to the bathroom (and we also ordered a second one to have while the other was being washed). The snaps worked well and are probably the best option. Fur can get caught by velcro or a zipper. The fabric is thin, but I found that as beneficial in warmer weather. I felt it also allowed the. wound to breath a bit. My dog does not like any garments and so it helped to prevent hind leg scratching of her sutures. If she did scratch, at least her nails would not catch on the sutures. My only other complaint is that there was not a better pattern option (dots or flowers). The stripes give her a old school prison-vibe.

So much better than a cone of shame! We got two of these to alternate while pupster has her sutures after her spay surgery. She hates it, of course, but has no idea how much worse her life could be. Our older dog had to suffer the indignity of the inflatable cone, which he figured out how to remove almost immediately. He then had to wear....the cone of shame! This stays on, it's super soft and we take it off periodically to give her scratchies and most importantly: her wound has healed like a dream because she never got to it even once.We measured and followed the chart. She was right on the edge and we went with the smaller size (flashbacks of the Houdini antics of the elder dog) and it fits just right without her being able to wiggle out. It's well made, too, so I would say that the next several dogs I'm able to talk my husband into will be able to use them, though he has sworn several times that we would never have another puppy as long as he lives... Anyhoo, very pleased with this purchase.
