Love these little things. I took one apart to see how it works and there are little jagged pieces that engage on the wires, going through the insulation and making contact on the wire inside. Then the stuff on the inside of it seals it from the weather conditions. It makes quick work of attaching two or even more small wires together. If you want to be extra good, you could also strip the wires and twist them together before crimping. But overall, you don't really need to do that. It does a great job as is designed.

We used these for some low voltage audio connections. The connections are located in a floor plate and sometimes get a little wet as they are mopped over. They seem to be holding up well. The only issue I had, is there isn't much movement on the connectors when crimping so it is a little hard to tell how much to press them.

I had these in the past and searched for something similar to no avail, finally had to come online to buy them again. They seal better than any other wire connector, the coating on the inside helps to make the connection and keep out moisture. Simple to use with just a twist and a crimp. The only complaint I have is that these are small enough that certain larger wires gauge wires can't fit. These are a good size for small electronics and car audio though.
