It’s a beautiful guitar. Very detailed. Not too heavy. The pots and switches are not the best but the pickups sound fantastic. Such a full sound. I have another guitar with humbuckers but they soun cheap compared to these. The push pull pots don’t offer a big difference in sound but you can’t go wrong at this price. Very fun to play

I love the build quality of the guitar. I love the pickups and the 9 ways they can be configured via the 3 way pickup selector and the single/dual coil switches. I love good music from every genre and this goes a long ways to enabling me to play all of it on one guitar. You couldn't find a better budget guitar. One nit to pick though. The setup this guitar comes with is passing and just on the right side of "Meh". The pickups are set way too low. The action is a little high, but easily playable. I had a slight fret buzz on a couple frets. The intonation was spot on though. The strings are a little light for this style of guitar. If you are a seasoned player that is used to setting intonation, tress rods, action, and leveling frets, then this guitar is a steal. After all, we tend to change the setup on every guitar we buy regardless. When you can do it yourself, you tend to be picky and highly specific on this things. If you are a beginner player, then I suggest you go ahead and buy this guitar still. You save an easy $100 or more buying this guitar over the more recognized brands. You can get your guitar setup professionally to what you like once you have played it a bit and know what you think needs changed. And then you will have a better sounding and more feature rich guitar than what Ibanez is offering, while still saving a Benny, give or take.Unless you have money to throw as the solution to all problems, then I recommend this guitar. If you do have money to throw at all problems... buy this and a Gibson.

At first i thought i had a ringer with this beauty, but not long before i realized it just missed being that one special affordable guitar i had always wanted but was never able to find. Don't get me wrong though because i still am impressed with a lot about this guitar. It is one of the easiest guitars to play i have owned over the last 58 years i have been playing guitar. Action was fine out of the box and the neck which may seem bulky to many actually allows me to chord without my fat fingers touching and dulling out the next string over. I do love that wide flat neck shape. The guitar sounds very good and the pickups are great for such an inexpensive guitar. In fact everything was starting to look perfect when i first checked it out. Then i began to notice no matter how much i turned the tone knobs, not much changed in tone. The tone is fine but why even have tone knobs if they don't work or barely change tone? So, in all honesty i still really love the guitar, but they just missed having one of the great deals we sometimes (not often) find. I like the coil splitting but i would trade that for tone changes and the ability to turn the knob and hear some difference in tone. I still recommend this beauty even after the frustration of the knobs. Mine looks, feels and plays like a much more expensive guitar and for me a much better guitar than say an Epiphone costing two or three times as much. I have more than two dozen semi-hollow body guitars and most are budget brands. This Donner is among the best of them and if you have trouble making chords without touching the wrong string then this is a great one. It is so nice to play.UPDATE-NOW ONE OF THE PICKUPS MUST BE LOOSE. THAT SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED AS I HAVE PROBABLY ONLY PLAYED IT MAYBE AN HOUR TOTAL SINCE I BOUGHT IT. IT'S A SHAME TOO BECAUSE IT HAD THE POTENTIAL TO BE ONE OF THE BEST BUDGET GUITARS EVER. NOW I WILL HAVE TO TAKE IT SOMEWHERE TO HAVE IT REPAIRED WHICH MAKES IT NOT SUCH A GREAT DEAL AFTER ALL.

This is a beautiful instrument that has so many options that you can play any type of music. Sound is rich unless you want brassy :)The intonation was almost perfect out of the box (minor adjustment).I own three other Donner guitars and this is the best one yet.

Great guitar! I watched a few reviews before buying it, so I was expecting a great value for money, but this guitar is amazing. The action was too low, so I fixed that on my own. Other than that... perfect!

LOVE the style, and the gloss coating is really great. The ability to "split the pickups" between single pole and humbucker modes is an added benefit. However, the pickup covers arrived corroded, and after more than 10 requests to Donner to replace them, I gave up and chalked this up to Donner not caring about the quality of their products, nor their customers. The 3 way switch started failing and after taking it to a Luthier, they noted the switch was ok but the wiring to the switch shorted out. A simple push moved the wiring and it works, but it should NEVER had been built in a way that allows this to occur.Spent another $250 to greatly improve the playability via an automated grinding system and much better strings.I do use this as my primary guitar when performing, and hope this guitar lasts long enough to justify the grief, disappointment and additional costs to make this a better bargain.

I could not be happier with this guitar. The finish on it is beautiful, truss rod was adjusted perfectly, frets were level, intonation was bang on. The only thing I had to do was lower the bridge a little to get better action. Shipping was incredibly fast and came packaged so the guitar was well protected. This guitar plays way better than i was expecting. Overall I would definitely recommend this guitar to anyone looking for a quality instrument at a great price

This guitar looks absolutely great! Unfortunately, there was a pronounced buzz coming from the 1st fret. Obviously, this was apparent at the factory as the bridge was adjusted very high on the low E string side.Normally, a bit of neck relief would fix that, which I expected per many YouTube reviews. Reviewers said between 1/4 to 1/2 turn of the truss rod would do the trick. A full turn later and there was still a slight buzz. I played around with the truss rod and the bridge height a lot to finally get the buzz out, but this left a pretty high string action, and I found it impossible to set the intonation right. Finally, I replaced the d'Addario stock strings with Ernie Ball Ultra Slinky 8/38 strings, reset the truss rod and the bridge, and ground down the first fret at the low E end. The guitar now plays reasonably well.A close inspection of the neck showed that the nut groove for the low E string seemed a tiny bit deep, the 1st fret a tiny bit high, and the neck a tiny bit twisted. Any one of these could have easily been adjusted for, but all three together caused a big problem! Thankfully, I'm stubborn and would not let this guitar get the better of me and managed to get it playing well. It has a great sound! No complaints there. At first, I tried to contact the seller, but the only link on Amazon was for the maker....Donner. They responded quickly and followed my continuing saga of trying to get their instrument playing well. In the end, they told me to keep the guitar and they woul refund my full cost for all my trouble. I love the look and I love the sound, so with my refund, I ordered a new one directly from Donner in red...the colour I wanted anyway. Then we'll see if I just ended up with the one that got away from QA.UPDATE: I received the new DJP-1000 directly from Donner and I am happy to report that it was almost perfect out of the box! All I had to do was to tune the strings and make a tiny adjustment on the intonation on one string. Everything else was just the way it should be. It looks and sounds great! So, in conclusion, it appears that the first one was indeed one that got away, while the new one is exactly what all YouTube reviewers were receiving--an excellent guitar!

Do not be fooled! This guitar is way better than its price! It will require a professional setup so be prepared to spend an extra $100-$200 at your local guitar shop. But this guitar is worth every cent! You can strum, jazz and even shred easily with this guitar. Well done Donner!

Despite claiming to check every guitar for quality and sound this was not checked. "FUD FUD" from humped fretboard AND sympathetic vibrations in the body are not acceptable for an otherwise beautiful instrument.

The fit and finish is excellent. The neck and body are as good as they get. The neck/body joint is seamless. The fingerboard had no imperfections. The frets need a little leveling, and maybe a small truss rod adjustment, nothing I can't fix myself. A novice might have found the action a little high if they are not familiar with guitars. The intonation is pretty close out of the box, but I will fine tune that after the neck adjustments. The nut is cut to the optimum height. No need to adjust that. The electrics work as claimed, though the pot tapers are not the best choice. The action works from 0 to 2, with little change between 2 to 10. The coil split feature works well with a noticeable difference in tone. I think the pots could have been shimmed lower into the body so that the knobs wouldn't be so high. I can do this later. The strap button on the neck is awkwardly placed, and is difficult to put a strap on. I may have to shim the strap button to raise it high enough to hook a strap on it, not a big deal. Overall, the important things (fit, finish, design) are very good; and the things that need a little finesse can be performed by anyone with a little care, knowledge, and some hand tools. Donner really stepped up on this guitar, and with a little work it will be an excellent guitar.
